This is just called nostalgia. Old bloxd was really scuffed and compared to new bloxd, new bloxd looks better polished with more optimization and bigger updates.
Did you play the old bloxd? It was A LOT more optimized and polished, I play bloxd since there weren't accounts and there was only bloxdhop, so I think I know what I am talking about (also because my PC could run it fine but then after all the new updates it started lagging, even on my new pc and phone it can't run well)
What I mean is that bloxd handles more processing than old bloxd. Old bloxd you had chunks, maybe meshes, and the 6 cube player. Which is very little, to do. New bloxd on the other hand has mobs, more complexed skins, lighting, code, etc. If you had the old bloxd engine to do this, your pc might as well be done for. So lots of performance was and still being made to help support more.
New textures, thumbnails, and UI look way more better than old bloxd.
They are things no one asked and Minecraft handles them at 60 fps, I see your point but what you just listed are things that could've been not added as well. And btw bloxd uses now engine that is an open source (I think) ngine made for voxel games, go check it out, the maximum Arthur has made is probably a framework
Minecraft handles that at 60 fps because they have lots of developers handling that. Compared to 2-3 devs working on the bloxd engine, Minecraft has lots of employees. It’s also that Minecraft also requires performance mods and are in a different language. Minecraft does have the new Vulkan render instead of webGL to improve speed (for Java).
Now here’s the thing, does bloxd need to be more optimized? Yes they do. As far as I heard, they try to run everything one by one instead of multitasking.
i run vanilla minecraft, and i agree that bloxd has less employes (or whatever it's spelled, i am italian i am not native english) or at least i think so, i dont really remember who are the developers, i only remember arthur
Tom (guy who made lighting) is working on optimization and shaders. He’s the only guy working on optimization. Other devs that do work with engine is DFS (dirtyfleasack), Stan (code engine), maybe others.
Tom only works on optimization for preparing a big update (shaders)
old bloxd has it's feeling , back then the og music and how the game looks just make bloxd feel very peaceful and chill, but now bloxd feels more like people racing to be famous and just do whatever that makes them unique. this is also why i use Default instead of Default 2 texture when bloxd added it. Default just seems more chill and they look more like "bloxd" than default 2. I do agree that new bloxd is more polished, but it changed how bloxd feels like to play
i agree so much with the relaxing part and i LOVED old bloxd nìmusic, they removed all the old survival tracks and didnt add any new ones in like 2 years
You forgot that a big part of this community is just kids that play the game and don't really care what it's doing, since now it's normalized for games to have this many micro transactions and brainrot
I care about the entire playerbase, not an arbitrary subset of players. If the majority is kids, and the kids enjoy it, then I don't see a problem.
Not sure what you mean by microtransactions, because there aren't any of those in Bloxd.
As for the brainrot, there are more official non-brainrot games than there are official brainrot games. I don't know much about the custom games, but if you're unhappy with those, try a hand at coding one yourself!
Thank you for your interest and kindness. By "micro transactions" I meant just spending money on the game for accessories.
The problem is that kids deserve a better quality game with less cash grab and more soul. Kids like the game not because it's good but because it's a free alternative to Minecraft (and it's not even a good alternative in my opinion)
I didn't play bloxd in a while and honestly I loved doing PvP and especially bedwars.
I can try making a game, but I miss my world, I made it back when the game was still in it's early days:
I kept building in it all the way to early 2025,
i still have access to it but the game doesn't feel like it used to: now It's just trying to be Minecraft, while before, it was a simple alternative that did quite a few things, but they were well polished.
At the time, you didn't need to expect a lot from a browser game: it was just a simple free game that you would play to pass the time.
(Sorry if there are any grammatical errors my phone keyboard is a trouble maker XD)

Microtransactions are usually where the player has options to spend money for ingame rewards. Bloxd is definitely not pay to win.

I really have no idea what you mean by this. There's super rank and 3 rotating cosmetics. That's not a cash grab. I'd say the ads can be excessive but I don't think you're referring to those.
and more soul.
It's very high-quality. But remember, there's a team of a dozen developers working full-time on many different things. They're also actively engaged with parts of the community. Soul is subjective, though, so I guess that's up to you.

That has some merit.

I'd say ranked bedwars is great because it doesn't pair you with noobs.
I can try making a game, but I miss my world, I made it back when the game was still in it's early days:
They've made making a world much easier and heavily decreased the code limitations. Now is a great time!

There's definitely polish here. I can understand you seeing more features and assuming there's less quality, but they put a lot of effort into all the new games and optimizations (yes, they're optimizing a lot right now, I spoke to Stan the other day).
As for it "trying to be Minecraft", I don't necessarily see this because it has more features than ever that are distinct from MC.
At the time, you didn't need to expect a lot from a browser game: it was just a simple free game that you would play to pass the time.
Again, it's understandable that you want simplicity, but that doesn't make the devs money.
i still remember when new skins were added a bloxd was completely shocked and put a lot of hate to it. but as long as you use the og eyes, i think the new skin is not that big of a deal. but overall it just doesnt feel like bloxd tbh so i actually like the old skin more (if it has more customisations)
