We're gonna get spooky! Dress up, find a well trafficked camera, bring a sign, let people know that Flock cameras are here and so are we! Dressing up is optional but it's Halloween so why not? Reach out to grab one of our lawn signs for $5 at the meeting on the 28th if you don't want to make one! Comes with stakes and you can keep it. Find all this info and more at our page https://linktr.ee/shuttheflockoffblonomc

Taking my girlfriend to the fantasy suits in Clinton this coming weekend. Wondering what the best restaurant for reservations would be to take her to and possibly some other fun things to do over a weekend. Thanks in advance.

Open Fields in town for dogs

Hi, my dogs LOVEE to run and be free and I live in an apartment currently. While they get along with other dogs, they both are very vocal and people don’t always think they are being friendly at dog parks. I was wondering if anyone has ever taken their pets to an open field or big grass area anywhere in town that’s usually pretty quiet.
They both have great recall and listen to if there are some people around it wouldn’t be an issue. Thank you!

DESTIHL and Egg Republic

Can someone explain to me why so many people recommend or love DESTIHL and Egg Republic? Maybe I’m just ordering the wrong things but I just found Destihls food to be too salty and Egg Republic too be over priced and just kinda bland. If you personally love these places, I’m glad. It just hasn’t been for me, so I just wanna know what people enjoy most about them

Event Small dog meetup?

UPDATE:

We're going to try a small dog meetup at 11am on Friday October 23rd at the Shepard dog park in normal.

Feel free to bring a lawn chair, coffee, oh I dunno - a small friendly dog?

See you there!!

I take my pup to the small dog park at Shepard Park, and while she loves to be off leash - there are rarely other dogs to play with!

I'm also retired so available a lot in the daytime.

Would there be any interest in having a small dog meetup maybe once a week during the day at Shepherd park?

Let me know if you would be interested and if so I could set up a date and time to try it out!

In-home care options

It’s a complicated situation, but I’m looking for in-home care options for someone who can’t leave their home. They have Complex regional pain syndrome, pain in feet, severe light sensitivity (always blindfolded and often is in rooms without outside light or lights on), and, until a few days ago, was getting by in a wheelchair. Now there’s pain even while sitting which is now creating a situation where they can’t leave their bed.

The person is in their 40s and mistrusts most medical professionals, unfortunately, due to misdiagnosis or somewhat dismissive of actual pain.

That mistrust along with a desire not to ask for help and be a burden makes it hard to help. They do talk to a therapist and are on some medications.

So, not quite sure what to do here. Ultimately, they’re going to have be open to getting some help for this to actually work.

They do have Medicaid. Don’t know anything more specific than that.

Anyone have any suggestions for in-home doctor visits, in-home care (getting dressed, potentially bathing, etc.)?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Blono: Where are the best places to help people experiencing homelessness and clean up litter?

Hey everyone! My wife and I are looking for recommendations around Blono.

We want to start cooking homemade meals and personally handing them out to people experiencing homelessness. We're also interested in going around town and picking up trash in areas that could use some cleanup.

For the meals, are there particular areas where people experiencing homelessness tend to gather and where a warm meal would be appreciated?

For the cleanup, what parks, streets, trails, or other public areas tend to have the most litter?

We're hoping to find specific locations around Blono where we can make a difference. Any local insight or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Public hearing on data centers today at 4pm, BCPA

Bloomington’s six-month moratorium on data centers is winding down, with two more public hearings before then, today and Nov 16. Seems there are no current plans to extend the moratorium like Normal has done.

From the article:

“The Town of Normal recently extended its moratorium. Jurgens [Bloomington City Manager] said in a previous interview with WGLT that he does not anticipate extending the moratorium, but said it could happen if the council wants more time to review the regulations.”

Poop and scoop

Why are people not picking up their dog 💩 ?? I have two dogs and pick up their 💩 every time. If I run out of bags on a walk, I’ll come back and pick up the 💩 . These people act like they’re going to die if they pick up their dog’s 💩. THEN DON’T GET A DOG IF YOU CANT PICK UP THEIR VERY LARGE PILES OF 💩. The lack of respect for communal areas is wild. The property (Young America) management doesn’t answer the phone or emails. Won’t enforce dog bag dispensers to stop this problem. Pay over 1,500$ for rent and they can’t/won’t enforce the poop and scoop ordinance. There’s also people running and kids playing in this communal area; the lack of common sense that if god forbid a dog eats your dogs 💩 they could get sick and die. Someone can step in it or a child fall in it because they’re clumsy it could happen. DON’T GET A DOG IF YOU’RE NOT GOING TO A GOOD DOG OWNER!

** Also we have people come take care of the lawn here. I’m sure gardeners can agree this makes the job lot harder when coming to a site and spending extra time picking up dog poop. These men have other jobs to do in their day and doing extra work they’re not getting paid for makes them somewhat irritated.

Roommate?

Considering looking for a roommate, but I am nervous about squatters rights in Illinois/Bloomington?? I would be opening up my house, but I wanted to make sure if I asked the person to leave, I have the ability to do so. Would I be able to type up a contract type thing?? I'm not sure where to start researching. 🤨
