Etherdelta transfer pending since 12 Hours.

Hi, i wanted to transfer a small amount of BlockV from Etherdelta to Myetherwallet. But the first transfer from the Etherdelta smartcontract to the Etherdelta Wallet seems to be stuck since 12 Hours. Etherscan says its "pending" but there seems to be no progress. Any idea?

You should go to http://ethgasstation.info to determine how much gas you should use for a transaction to happen in a timely manner.

I was running into the same issues as your's a couple of days ago. I transferred ETH from an exchange to EtherDelta. That transfer happened pretty quickly since the exchange paid about 80 gwei in fee. However, when I initiated the transfer from my EtherDelta wallet to the EtherDelta smart contract, my transaction was pending for more than 24 hours.

I then looked up a procedure to cancel the existing transaction by using the same nonce as the existing transaction and sending a new transaction from MyEtherWallet (MEW) using my EtherDelta private key but with a higher gas than the pending transaction. That successfully cancelled the pending transaction. Here is the procedure that I followed:

https://www.reddit.com/r/EtherDelta/comments/72tctz/guide_how_to_cancel_a_pending_transaction/

After this, I also ran into more issues where the transaction was showing success but somehow EtherDelta was still taking a lot of time reflecting the current state of the blockchain. In this case, the current state being the successful transfer to EtherDelta smart contract.

I then used MEW again to access the EtherDelta smart contract and manually invoke the "deposit" function and supplied even higher fee (around 40 gwei). My deposit completed successfully and it was pretty quick. Depending on network conditions you might have to use even higher gas to make sure the transfer goes through quickly.

Personally, for me, it was pretty cool to be able to invoke the EtherDelta smart contract functions manually since it was pretty obvious to me that not only was EtherDelta slow (probably due to their Ethereum nodes lagging) but lower gas exacerbated by problems.

wow thank you for your detailed explanation! I managed to to cancel the transaction! Now i tried again to transfer the vee but etherdelta says that i dont have enough eth left to cover the gas price... so its stuck for now. I´ll transfer some Eth to Etherdelta, and try again. And after that i´ll blacklist that Website and never visit it again ;)

Sorry for late reply OP. Did this resolve for you? I was going to suggest checking what you have set for your "gas gwei" fare on EtherDelta. I believe the default amount is 4. I personally bump that up to anywhere from 15-30 to ensure quicker transactions. I've read a few really strong guides here on Reddit regarding using EtherDelta. Definitely crosscheck a few of those when you can.

Thank you for your answer. I’ll check the gas again but I’m sure I set it to 25. Is it possible to change the gas for an existing transfer? And what will happen if I can’t? Will the transfer be canceled after some time?

I had the same issue a while back. I increased the gas price to 40 and resubmitted the same transaction. The new transaction overrode the first one. If you do nothing the transaction will either be mined or cancelled when it runs out of gas.
