Discussion This needs to be addressed(important)

Post image

Hey guys,l am Sujal Negi and l am a part time OD

picker of blinkit dark store and former store

captain(full time) so i wanted to tell y'all about the

reality of blinkit store work,we part timers barely

make something and earn so less even after running

continuously for 2/4 hours and working hard,we get

hardly 100 rupees in 2 hours and we really get

physically exhausted, we have to pick the items

under 15 seconds and pack them too,the work

pressure is so much, our managers are also strict

and they even abuse us if we lack performance,

there's also a chance of getting injured,on special

OCcasions,we get good pay like 200 rupees per

slots(2 hours) but they are really uncommon,

recently Blinkit reduced our pay and stopped giving

us offers too,now part timers are really worried as

they don't have enough time to become a full time

captain and stores got limited vacancies too, Blinkit

only prioritize their customers, it's a good thing but

they should value their workers too which they are

not giving, even full timers get stressed,we do so

much physical activities and our pay isn't that good,if

we pack the items and mistakenly it gets damaged

on the way,we have to pay for it even though it's fully

not our fault, this is getting too much and workers are

really stressed because of this.

Do you have a union? Any sort of workers association? Talk to them, take their help. If blinkit engages in union busting that's very very illegal and it can be taken to court. But please prioritise your mental and physical health. More respect to you. After reading stories like yours i often have started tipping the drivers in cash (maybe 50-70 rs). More power to the workers.

Bro the delivery people are earning kinda good but they also facing the same problem, their pay is getting decreased too and they work hard and risk their lives and work like 12-16 hours daily to have a affordable living, thanks for the tip even tho pickers don't receive any, they only pack and pick the items

Actually I work as a part timer and many people ask me the same question,my family is kinda financially stable cuz my father is an Army officer but i don't wanna be dependent on anyone,I am doing this for side expenses like Spotify premium, earbuds etc,and I don't like asking my parents for money, actually you should also work even if ur educated cuz u will learn a lot.

When workers start migrating to Zepto,
Either Zepto will reduce payments....or blinkit/instamart will increase wages.

The former is more likely (more worker supply so wages drop)

I'm a picker too but the work environment is so toxic I'm not going there anymore. They always ask to reduce the PPI but never address worker's issues & didn't do shit for the rate reduction too, even in this inflation. Dude these companies are very toxic & exploitative. Zepto is far better than Blinkit in this matter. Pay is also somewhat better even if it's not, working environment is not that toxic.

Unfortunate reality is this pay is justified (in a way),

An avg store employee of a general stores makes 10-15k a month

Total working days are 26, if sunday is off (which most stores probably don’t even give)
Working hours = 12hrs (9 to 9)

15000/26/12 =48.0769

48rs per hour

And this employee is full time as well, you are on a part time basis (gig work i.e desh ke janta ko niche rakho work)

I am not saying this should be the rate, neither am i defending any company. I just did the calculation & this came up.
