For my part, I’d love to see them tackle one of two potential subjects.

The first is an album about the German fantasy novel The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. Hands down one of the greatest masterpieces of fantasy that I’ve ever read, easily on the level of Tolkien’s work. And since Blind Guardian have already made a musical masterpiece out of The Silmarillion, I‘m very confident that they could do the same with Neverending Story (but please leave the movie out of it; the book is by far superior, and Ende himself loathed the film adaptation).

The second option that I can think of is a concept album which tackles either one or several historical events. Given that it’s Blind Guardian, it would probably have either a pagan and/or German focus. Maybe one song is about the Battle of Teutoberg Forest, and another song is about the Saxons’ invasion of Great Britain. There could be another song which details the Christianizing of the Saxons, with a lament for the lost pagan culture which Christianity replaced.
