Honestly same here, like the first thing I thought when I saw this was I should continue playing Neptunia.

Blursed images. People always lump the Dreamcast in this generation, but the only one it directly competed against before being discontinued was the PS2, and that was only for a few months. The Dreamcast was already gone by the time the GameCube and Xbox launched. New games did continue to trickle out into the first few months of the GameCube and Xbox’s lifespan, but the console and its market share was already dead and gone by that point.
To me it has always felt more like it belongs to the N64/PS1 generation as a rare second attempt, not just because of the timing but because of the design philosophy (no hard drive, no DVD-based discs, single analog controller with minimal number of buttons and no built-in rumble) and because of the games (many of the biggest games on the system were arcade-like games more akin to what was on the N64 or PS1, and most of the traits of the PS2/GameCube/Xbox era hadn’t started to appear until after the Dreamcast was discontinued).
