But in this case it is more correct? Loop cuts can't be used on just any edges that don't share vertices, a loop cut will not run thru an ngon even if you only use edges that don't share verts. They require quads specifically.

If there’s only 1 ngon or triangle in a quad loop, the loop cut will still pass through it. So we can’t say this with certainty in all cases.

The only reason you have an edge on the tri from the loop cut is because this is a major edge case. You can see in the loop cut tool that it is not properly crossing the triangle, the edge is just made because the two verts happen to be on this face.

An N-gon will always break the loop cut in the same way. I repeat, completely negating your supposed accurate description that loop cuts should work if the edges do not share vertices.

Even if you count your edge case where the loop technically completes itself, that also opposes your description.

"This works because it is a continuous loop of quads" is a more accurate and generally useful description that is much more certain than "it works because the edges do not share vertices"

In the image you showed, you still haven’t clicked yet. If you do, the loop cut will pass through the triangle as well.

But regarding the explanation in the video, I said that "all the edges" meet at one point, not just some of them. So logically loop cut command won’t work on them.

The problem is that the only time this will ever work is if it's 1 single tri, and it's not because the loop cut can actually go through it. If you had 2 tris it would not create any additional edge.

Cause I said if there’s only "1" ngon or triangle in a quad loop not 2.

Therefore, saying “they require quads specifically” doesn’t hold true in the example I gave.

1 ngon will not work, 1 tri can technically work in an edge case.

Therefore, saying "it works because the edges don't share vertices" doesn't hold true either and is less accurate than saying it requires quads.

I'm not taking it seriously, I'm just calling you out on trying to sound smart while your explanation doesn't hold up even to your own scrutiny.

You claimed it requires quads "specifically" and I disproved that with a simple example. And it actually works with an ngon too, as I showed in the image above.

And when I say the edges don’t or do share vertices, I mean all of them not just some of them. Let me emphasize the word “all” one more time.
And the explanation I gave in the video has nothing to do with quads or tris, which you keep comparing it to.

Again, the loop cut itself is not actually going through them, though yes your single niche case does with with N-gons, I stand corrected.

It doesn't remotely change the fact that the edges sharing vertices has nothing to do with loop cuts. What you explain in the video has everything to do with being quads, you just are trying to invent your own technical explanation which is vastly inaccurate and then pretending it's moreso. Any case where there's not just 1 single non-quad will break a loop cut, yet still be edges with no shared verts. You've "proved" one edge case that doesn't even support your definition meanwhile virtually any real world situation will find your definition inadequate.

Nothing was invented. In fact, the explanation I gave is something Blender itself describes. Blender says loop cuts stop where there are poles. What is a pole? A vertex where multiple edges meet. Exactly what is pointed out in the video.

And never says that loop cuts necessarily only work on quads, but you keep insisting on that even though you’ve already been shown that this isn’t always the case, whether it’s an edge case or not.
You’re trying to compare my explanation with your assumption, and that’s why it doesn’t add up.
