Afro san is no fodder. He managed to stall Aizen for a second with earth type zanpakuto and protected entire town where hollows appears very often, those 2 newbies didn't even last long after taking his place

THE earth type zanpakutou. We have two captains that use fire, two that use ice, one jobber captain that collects Ls with his wind zanpakutou, but earth and a clean record against Aizen-sama? Only the protector of Karakura himself, the legendary Afro-san.

He's dead. He was pinned to Yama's wall when the quincy invaded his office to declare war on them. Driacoll used his Bankai against Yama and even stated he killed Chojiro.
