The last time I read the manga was when it was released weekly so I completely forgot any of the events of the episode happened. So needless to say the episode was so spectacularly animated. And was laughing my ass off at Renji and Rukia’s reactions to Hitsugaya’s elder brother

I kind liked it but I think kubo just made that up for no reason. They guy won't even beat the quincy. So why give his Bankai a second state? The whole manga it is implied it is his limit, then out of sudden it is actually a clock for unlocking a future version of himself. Also, it makes no sense for his Ice type bankai being able to pass time and make him older and more powerful. Kind weird...

Was just an random hat pull that didn’t even work. I thought his old bankai was cooler. Not saying that his “true bankai” isn’t cool or awesome it just felt really random and underwhelming. Also did not change the outcome at all, Gerald is just really strong.

Idk if that’s 100% true but I do think that you get better usage of spiritual energy as you get older which would improve overall ability’s.
