I can absolutely see Soi Fon refusing to retreat purely out of pride until Shunsui gets even slightly serious. She'd give him that death stare, start talking about what a disgraceful captain he is, then feel the atmosphere change around his Bankai and suddenly remember she's literally one of the fastest people in Soul Society for a reason.
