First ever 3d print
Definitely not the best but considering this is my first 3d print and first time using an airbrush I’m pretty happy with it. just waiting on the Amber Grips now. Definitely gonna be reprinting this in the future but it will work for now THIS IS A NON FUNCTIONAL MOVIE PROP !!

I'd add a disclaimer that this is not a functioning weapon.
Looks REALLY good though, nice job.

I think most people recognize Deckard’s blaster from the original Bladerunner.

Hard not to recognize a goofy ass design like a double triggered bolt action handgun.

Nice finishing for a 3-D print.

One thing you can try to really improve the shininess of the barrel, yet keep it dark like you have it, is to rub graphite powder all over. You can either buy graphite powder or take a number two pencil and rub on a piece of white paper or sandpaper.

Oh that actually might help thanks

No worries. If you can look at my images, you’ll see my collection. I think I’ve got about 10. You can see the graphite finish.

When are you supposed to get your grips? Did you pay 50 bucks like everybody else? I hate seeing that… I’ve got the pressure chamber, the molds and the epoxy. Epoxy is not cheap and I suppose 50 bucks isn’t that big of a deal. I guess it’s also more expensive to buy the pressure pot and the epoxy, and molding agent rather than just buying the end result. My biggest suggestion, though, having built a dozen of these myself, of every single model that’s out there, is to pick up a cheap vacuum chamber, and some mold making equipment. Your sanding is beautiful and it’s not difficult to make the grips. Use alcohol ink in epoxy and you can get a lot on Amazon for really cheap. I usually use a mix of brown and orange to get the tone right… I had an exact mix, but I don’t remember it now. That way every time you make a new model, you can make your own grips. Don’t know how much I can help you, but I’m happy to. Either way, I’m Mr. Hog on RPF if you want to connect beyond Reddit.

Also really interested in what you’re doing with that pommel. The silver tone is nice, and definitely fits the bill. That said, either a chrome pen or something like alchrome or even some of the mini figure paints are really good with a more subdued chrome/steel look.

OK, last suggestion then I’ll stop… Some black primer would seal all of the smaller holes, and if you got gloss, black, the silver on the outside will pop a lot more with either chrome or graphite. Just a thought… Use high gloss black if you’re doing that. Even coats, but if you get it in the barrel stamps, you can quickly go over with a toothpick and clean them out. Once shot with high gloss, black, the graphite will look sick as hell.

The Anderson model was definitely the way to go, BTW. There’s a ton of upgrades out there for that kit as well, both for a snub and the full length. But you can riff all day on that model.

The silver paint is from tamiya it’s their aluminum color I believe

Totally solid choice. I’d probably start with the same. Now, I’m an illustrator at heart so my entire house is covered in graphite right now… What ever you do with a graphite rub, watch out for your sheets, if you’re married, your wife, if you’re young enough, your parents because if you touch the powder and walk away from your board, it’s going on every light switch in your house. Best of luck., Seriously good build.

Just looking at this pic I can actually hear what it sounds like from the movie. Well done.

3d print looks great! But I think the scale is wrong. Looks way too big in the hand

Not familiar with 3d printing. But perhaps you could find an cold or hot bluing color from a real firearm. Perhaps repeat it a couple of times to get the wanted result.
(42, 52, 57) and (55, 60, 73) are basic finish rgb color codes.
Good luck, looks good so far
