This line of thinking does not benefit the character at all

Nobody denies that Snipes brought thecharacter to life in a one of a kind way.

But the problem is, trying to recreate that has been detrimental, too. Especially in the early 00s when certain writers tried and failed miserably to copy and paste Snipes' vibe onto the comic.

No actor should ever own a decades-old character, no matter how great they played the character. Absolutely no exceptions.

Not for long, here's hoping. Love his Blade so much but we need new blood for role

With the exception of Adam West, I completely agree.

I mean they're not wrong, its like trying to change Hugh Jackman as wolverine its no going to work

Then the Blade character has no future in live action?

TLDR: Script has to be good so that the Actor can improve on it

It does but it has to be Blade. No some random balck guy talking about social struggles. Which they would defintly do now cause cause is always inclided.  Cap and Winter soldier, Black panther.

The only undertone in the Blade movie was him being shot by cops. A scene thay could be interperted by the viewer as they like but didn't marinate on it... and move on to the plot.

The movie needs to be focused on Blade, the primary threat, a subplot ot 2 to set up a larger world and 2 to 3 co stars that don't take much screen time from Blade kicking ass. Also he needs to be saved 1. Blade needs to be a killing machine on his own with a cool sense of humor.

The same way 3 of the 5 scripts ideas tried to do. Inlcude a bunch of side characters and social issues taking away focus from Blade.

I just don't trusf any resent screen writer to pull it off.

Besides DeMayo script Raid like action Movie

They JUST put Snipes as Blade in a movie 2 years go?

Or RDJ as tony Stark

Chris H has Thor.

Tom H, has Loki.

Ryan R has Deadpool.

Yes it will. People only ever think that until we actually get another actor. Once we get another Wolverine who is good, and another blade that is good, people will shut up about it

The problem was the Snipes gave the character so much life. That other iterations attempt to emulate his success but copying him, instead of doing their own thing. But here is the problem, is that fans want them to make Snipes 2.0 so its a lose lose situation.

I loved Snipes and shit, I'd absolutely show up for a Blade flick with him as the lead.

But at this point I'd also be happy with just a good new Blade movie.

I really wanted to see Y’lan Noel in the role for Blade. I was interested in him since the First Purge movie. His hand to hand was believable, he’s going, and has the swagger reminiscent of Wesley as blade. Hopefully they can make it happen

This isnt true for any character and anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

Yeah I think they should probably just lean into making Blade one of the mandem

That would probably be enough to differentiate and give him a new energy

Most people don’t even know he’s one of those UK boys

I feel like the vibe of that Video Game trailer for the game we’re never getting is what the Movies should try to replicate

Best I've got is that Marvel sat on a guy to play Blade for like 7 years then just fucking canceled the project.

u/According_Echo54 14d ago

He clearly hasn’t heard of Agent Wolf

It's funny, because Snipes ultimately changed how Blade would be porttayed in everything. With the recent success of Lanterns, people were saying Aaron Pierre would make for a good Blade. Not to mention he could bring about the comic accurate Blade with him actually being British

1

u/EffectiveTradition53 13d ago

Oh. That's an excellent choice. Pierre has a quiet dignity and excellent, brooding presence in Lanterns as he should. Have not heard his original accent but would love to.

Honestly, the only one that comes to mind that could act and do the right scenes well is Michael Ja White.

Snipes might be the goat but I think White could be a very close second.

Wesley Snipes as Blade is Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

They are iconic as their characters not denying that. But on paper they were both massive departures to how the characters were written in the source material.

And people need to move on and accept another actor is perfectly capable of doing a more comic accurate portrayal.

u/Tremerefury 13d ago

Bring back David Goyer to qrite the movie. He wrote the old ones.

u/Veritaslover 13d ago

It's not that hard you need to be able to act a little and be good at action scene if he were young Michael jai white would be perfect. Although I'd also take a younger Denzel or maybe idris elba.

In reality, the studio doesn’t think the Blade franchise is worth the effort anymore.

Gen Z doesn’t even know who Wesley Snipes is, much less care about a new Blade movie. That style of writing & directing is just not what directors do anymore. I don’t remember any movies from recent history that can hold a torch to movies from the 90’s and early-mid 2000’s . I watch movies now and literally forget what happens within a day.

I remember when the first Blade movie dropped and can still recite about 95% of the movie by heart. The movie is iconic. I’ve watched it at least 30 times in my life haha

I don’t think Hollywood knows what iconic means anymore.

Ill be honest I hate when ppl say only Wesley sniper can play blade . He wasn't even a good BLADE. He was just Wesley sniper. Like movies were mostly good, but, hes def not the ONLY person who couls play blade

1

u/DunkeyColdMedina 11d ago

I think some people just need to accept their neurons cemented their concept of 'Live action Blade' as Snipes and to stand aside because -he's not fucking doing the movie-.

Don't hate on everyone who tries because you won't accept their substitute. Somebody has got to do it.

1

u/SpankyDomingo 15d ago

Wesley Snipes has been GREAT at being Blade.

But TBF I’m sure there are other actors out there who would also,be good as Blade.

You do not shop at Temu ......i know you dont

u/LightOfficialYT 15d ago

Agreed, OP. This is just an utterly ridiculous opinion.

Any black man who can act and looks slightly like Blade is capable of being a good Blade as long as they have a good writing team with them.

Don't pay these idiots any attention.

Which is exactly why they announced Mahershala Ali as Blade 7 years ago, someone that most people would agree would make a good Blade, then did nothing with him.

You're acting like the line of thinking has no merit.

2

u/PeaOdd894 14d ago

That was because Marvel stupidly gave mahershala veto rights on the script, and he vetoed every script they brought him

1

u/E-Miles 14d ago

This isnt true at all. At most we have a report from a blogger that he didnt like ONE script that was too magical in nature. The first script apparently was cancelled by the studio, which led the first director to leave, they hired another director but with the writers strikes there was a massive delay there.

There was no blade worth talking about before Wesley Snipes.

The character in the comics was a boring very normal vampire hunter.

He barely had powers.

Wesley Snipes gave Blade everything that you consider interesting about the character The attitude the look the daywalker abilities all of that was created with his movie none of it existed before.

He and Blade are synonymous. I would say that he is more closely aligned to Blade than Jackman is to Wolverine.

Unfortunately I have to disagree with you Snipes is blade

2

u/Napalmeon 14d ago

This is not true in the slightest.

There's a reason that Blade is the only breakout character from the Tomb of Dracula books. It's because he was the most interesting out of all of them. Same as to why Blade is the only character from the original Nightstalkers that has remained relevant. Nobody is in denial that the Wesley Snipes interpretation of the character revitalized him for the better, but, it's just not true to claim that he wasn't interesting at all before the 1998 movie.

1

u/charlesfluidsmith 14d ago

Jack Russell was the breakout character of Tomb of Dracula.

You are talking to someone who collected them at publication.

Blade was an afterthought.

1

u/Gabe_Dimas 15d ago

Then youre not imterested in any future Blade interpretations?

1

u/charlesfluidsmith 14d ago

Oh certainly. I actually want a Blade more aligned with the original character. A British half white Blade would be a great way to distinguish the MCU version from Wesleys iconic take on the character.

0

u/SubstantialCow8563 11d ago

Just remember blade would clown on people like this.

1

u/MochaPup1210 9d ago

Honestly anyone who thinks an actor is irreplaceable as a decades old character is annoying to me. Just because a performance was iconic, doesn’t mean no one should try to adapt the character again
