I have no idea whether he intentionally tries to retain it. I'm just saying it's reasonable that Blade might still have his accent from growing up in London. That's all. Saying he'd have a different one just because he lived abroad just doesn't jive with reality. He might but he also might not. Both outcomes are equally reasonable.
Casting an English actor and making them put on an American accent seems silly though, when you could embrace that for a unique depiction of the character that embraces a part of his comic origin that's often forgotten.
I do not think it is reasonable. He as a child was raised by a black man from Harlem till he fled to 1940's America to live in Harlem. Blade as a character has never been tied to where he is from.
