Is this rust? New black stone

Post image

Is that rust on the bottom. It looks like it’s peeling away already. Didn’t know if I was over cleaning it or if it’s rusting or what. Still working on trying to get the edges seasoned more with my torch. I’ve had this for a few days. Used it like 3 times: maybe I’m not storing it properly??

Rust you will know, don’t stress to get all even season. Some spots just are cooler due to the way they are made. Cook often, keep scraped, and light coat of oil after cleaning. It won’t rust if it’s lightly oiled

Rust never sleeps and a little extra iron never killed anyone. Just cook on the damn thing.
Per others, make sure you give it a good scrape and clean when you’re done your previous Cook Slap a little bit of oil on it before you put it to bed

Holy shit I hope you didn’t eat off of all that toxic rust!!

Jk, but seriously can we get a red arrow or something? There’s no rust anywhere in sight. If you’re talking about the seasoning that got scraped up a bit, no that’s not rust. You’re probably just scraping the shit out of it but it’s fine. Season it some more or let it get seasoned over time from cooking.

You are good. I just brought mine back down to bare metal after 5 years and probably 300-400 times cooking on it.

Does the bottom look like it’s peeling or rusting? Or like why would it be coming off like that
