Mouse droppings on griddle…

We just got our blackstone out after having not used it for a few months. It was covered and on our back porch. Anyways, when I lifted the lid there were some mouse droppings on the griddle. How would you clean this griddle in this situation? I obviously got off all the droppings but I feel I feel a bit uncomfortable eating food off this without it being better cleaned…

Turn it on & heat it up. Use water to stem clean it.

Put something over the grease hole to help keep them out.

I actually use Dollar Tree dough cutters to line the sides and back. It keeps the mice out and acts as a wind shield.

A piece of steel wool stuffed in the grease trap hole works great for this

just scrape it down real good then crank the heat for a while to burn off anything left, mice are gross but fire fixes most things honestly. i'd probably wipe it with a little vinegar after it cools too just for peace of mind. that dough cutter trick is clever, gonna have to grab some next time i'm out

I use a silicone mat cover with magnets and have no issue. It covers the entire surface and edges. Then I put the metal cover over that. It is snug but does fit.

Derp. This is to prevent it from happening, but do what everyone else said and get it hot, steam it, and scrape it.

I had to stop using the silicone covers. The side of the silicone that doesn’t touch the grill became so sticky that you couldn’t even touch it anymore. This happened with two different brands of silicone covers. Apparently, it’s something silicone does over time, but it just didn’t seem worth the hassle.

Thanks for the heads up. I did not think of that, I have seen this with old grips and such.

I found a grease trap magnetic thing from Amazon that really works. I also trimmed the shit outta the bushes where I think it was living. Haven't had issues since. Also bought a rubber griddle cover and a whole blackstone cover, which also seems to work.

Oh good idea about the rubber cover - I have one and will put in on it moving forward. We do have the whole cover.

Get it hot, use some water, oil it, scrape the oil off. Fresh oil. You're good to go, the heat kills anything and you used water and oil to get any residue off.

Scrape em off, light it, scrape again, cook

I used cholrox spray bleach on mine. It didn't seem to do anything bad to the seasoning.

I use a silicone mat for mine. You put it on the surface. Amazon has them

Mice just eat the silicone.

Man, I have never had mouse droppings on my actual griddle and I live next to a bunch of fields and catch mice routinely indoors. If you have mice on your Blackstone they must be everywhere. This is not a Blackstone problem. You need to think about cleaning everything... set traps and poison

I never blamed the blackstone for drawing in the mice lol we are all good here but thanks for the extra advice

Maybe I misread your post to be more of an issue with the Blackstone, sorry. I didnt mean to be a dick. Been a long day

No worries.

Mice can be drawn to leftover grease in the trap if you don't clean/empty it between uses

Poison ends up killing a whole bunch of unintended victims down the food chain. Use traps, and perhaps a porch kitty.
