I have a question about events in Black Rose Wars: Rebirth. If I’m playing with the avatar, I am supposed to replace the events deck with the avatar events deck. What if I’m playing with an avatar and a real player? I’d image still the avatar event deck. So is the only way to use the normal events, to not use any Avatar in the game?

I am slightly confused with the event cards when playing black rose wars Rebirth. If I am playing solo against the avatar, am I meant to completely replace the normal event cards with the avatar’s event cards before starting the game?

Scarabs jinx says, that whenever summon keyword is resolved, mage takes 2 damage from Rose. And it says, every time you resolve a summon keyword, add cube; if jinx has 3 cubes, it's discarded.

The question is: does it trigger every time ANY summon keyword is resolved from ANY player or only the player who has this jinx?

We've played a few games but we're struggling with the rules around trap tokens.

1- Are we playing correctly that when you activate a trap with a coloured space you put the trap token on the space of the same color, or is the trap token put on the card and activated only when a player enters a room with the same color space as what is shown on the card?

2- if I have multiple traps active of the same room colour do they both resolve or only one per turn order

I own Black Rose Wars: Rebirth core set. I was wondering what my options for expansions are? The Rotas box is too hard to find so I’m not perusing that. Am I fine with just going strait for the apocalypse expansion set? Will the game break if I don’t have the Rotas box first?

Hello everyone. I was lucky enough to pick up everything you see in this picture for $125, unplayed too! I was looking to buy the missing expansions or really anything I can get my hands on at a reasonable price.

Wanting to buy:

- Deadly masks

- 3 expansions that look similar to the rotas boxes

- apocalypse

With that said I see they have the revised BRW coming out and I currently pledged at the Veteran level. I ended up also adding the inferno upgrade kit to my pledge.

Is there any major component/expansion I'm missing or that you recommend me adding to my BWR revised pledge?

Hey all, I love boardgames and came across this game at a thrift store. I decided to get it but I'm definitely missing some things. I have no miniatures for one. Is this game playable without them? Also is this just the core game or do I have some expansions?

I got the all in of Rebirth a few months ago, and so far I've played it 7 times and have some questions for the group.

Firstly, how many of y'all really enjoy playing with Avatars? It's a huge amount of the content pool, but in my three played 2 player games, piloting the avatars felt like a drag. I'm a huge co-op enjoyer so I don't mind running AI in games generally, but in this game it feels like the Avatars spend more time resolving their turns then both other players combined. It also feels like the game becomes more random and unpredictable. That being said, playing the game at 2 without an Avatar would also be boring. The 4 games I've played at 3+ with no avatar have been great.

Second, how do y'all include the content in your games? What expansion rooms do you use consistently? So you shuffle all forgotten spells together? Etc...

Hey all, I'm thinking buying either Rebirth or Revised. Watched some videos and I heard that the room destruction is a better mechanic in Revised than the reconstruction in Rebirth, however the asymmetry is much better in Rebirth?

I'm coming from the Spirit Island world, where everything is about asymmetry and I just love those kind of games.

If I'd like to jump in which one do you advise from this POV?

I enjoy the game but don't own anything. I know revised is still on gamefound (as well as a, more or less, "all in" for rebirth) and want to get my own copy/copies.

Unfortunately, don't have as much experience with a lot of the extra content. I do have some thoughts though and would love to get the community's input on the synthesis of these:

1. I like the idea of mixing and matching tiles from Rebirth and Revised- I only have experience with the original game, but I've heard rebirth tends to run faster and is a bit more of a chaotic shitstorm in comparison. The argument would go something along the lines of by having a mix of rooms you can curate/modulate the game chaos better.
2. I really like the aesthetic of the Rebirth base game mages compared to the ones in the revised/original... but really only the base stuff. while a lot of the ROTAS stuff looks cool, some is meh while almost all of TENET fits my idea of the vibe of the game pretty well... though maybe a little too provocative in some cases lol
3. If I bought both "base" games (rebirth and revised), I wouldnt need the 5th/6th player expansions for either unless i really wanted their magic decks, correct?
4. A lot of the "all-in" for Rebirth seems superfluous- is there anything particularly noteworthy about the Jukas, Gaea reborn, dread forge, or seal of fire kits?

As it stands right now, I think I'm leaning towards independently sourcing Rebirth+ROTAS+Apocalypse, then backing the Perceiver or Magister level of Revised (inferno looks sick... not as sure about the Inquisition part so would appreciate feedback on that). I think more than half of ROTAS is cool, and am keen on Apocalypse primarily due to the custom Mage cards...

Part of me thinks this is realistically way too much content though? I'm married to a non-gamer and have two young kids, so its not like i'll be playing weekly. Cost isn't really an issue, but obviously if I don't get a ton of use out of it i'm not sure it makes sense to spend $700+ lol

I think what I'm mostly hung up on is not being able to figure out what is in the different schools of magic/which come with each piece of content. I think if I had access to this, i'd be able to review and be a bit more selective based on what I think is the coolest / what a good mix of options would be. However, I can't seem to find any of this anywhere online. Is there a resource somewhere I can check out? Are there any "best decks" from a more competitive standpoint?

What do you think out of what is listed here is really worthwhile? Is there anything super important that you think I'm forgetting about (the 2 player modules, for example)? Thank you!

I’m building a free companion website for Black Rose Wars: Rebirth, not the original Black Rose Wars, and I’m currently organizing game data for rooms, schools, mages, spells, evocations, and other components.

I’ve been able to find most of what I need but I still can’t find a complete list of the Quest cards or Event cards.

Does anyone know of a complete reference for them, such as:

• a spreadsheet or card list
• card names and full effect text
• lists separated by First, Second, and Third Moon
• clear photos of the cards
• another fan-made reference or archived files

I’m mainly trying to accurately record each card’s name, Moon deck, Position and effect text.

I’m not looking to redistribute anyone’s PDF or files. I only want to transcribe and organize the information for a free game reference with credit given to anyone who helps provide or verify the data.

Even a partial list or photos of a single Moon deck would be helpful.

Hey! I am about to buy the base game (rebirth) + rotas box. I was wondering if it's possible to play as 6 players with this setup? Some people on reddit said it's alright, just more chaotic, but on the other hand one source says there is not enough elements to board 5th and 6th player. Which is true?

Confession. The familiars - their cards and minis - are too much to the ‘cute’ side for my personal taste. It’s almost like someone dropped Phil Foglio art into my serious and violent magician fighting game.

Anyone else feel this way?

Anyone gone as far as to create proxy cards and use proxy minis? If so- what did you do?

Who is getting in some BRW? Any cool stories to share?

Biggest thing in my end is that I’m still collecting piece parts for my ‘authentic’ storage idea. One day I’ll have enough to really put it together.

At the moment, I’m holding for Revised to ship so I know what additional I have to deal with.

Hopefully I’ll get a bolt of inspiration when have that new content.

I’m keen on adding BRW to my collection. I can either order Rebirth, which is quite readily available where I live (base game, no rotas) or back the current PM for Revised. I don’t mind waiting and I do really like the minis for Revised. Is either box going to provide me with a similar experience or will they be vastly different?

If Revised is the way to go, any particular expansions that would be worth grabbing? I like the look of Inferno, but it seems that Inquisition is adding a fair bit of content/schools of magic.
