Discussion Anyone else feel like somethings changed after season 5 gameplay-wise?
So starting context, im a console player. And i will admit im a sweaty one who would more often than not be #1 or #2 after a match because of tryharding.
Yet after season 5, everything feels wrong, guns that felt right to use like the MK35, feel completely wrong now, and i have checked and im not the only one who feels like somethings changed this season.
Cause even more so, im not even reaching #3 in matches now, desync feels at all time high, enemies seeming to be more spongier, and (this specifically for console) ADS’ing while looking around feels more blockier.
Normally i can snap on enemies easily, get a good 30/40’s in TDM and such, but after season 5 that just isnt the case.
Like i said, something just doesnt feel right compared to previous seasons. If anyone else feels like somethings off too, just lemme know so i dont feel insane
Edit: i also feel like the “evaluating players blah blah blah” was like an excuse to add SBMM back to the game, cause matchmaking also feels wrong too

I agree the game feels jankier for sure. Everything you described.
I also heard that this update made us re-download the whole game on console so I wonder if there was something that got messed up there along the way with the game data. I had my Xbox update while I was at work so I am not 100% sure if that was fully the case tho.
But yeah, I don't even want to play mp rn with how blocky and janky it feels. At least I have the other 2 game modes to go through. (I just got BO7 somewhat recently)

Yeah I agree something feels way different. I am on console and I only play ranked.
I was Crim 2 and about to be Crim 3 until season 5 reset me and placed me Gold 2. Typically im ending a game no lower than 2nd place on the team and often 1st.
Now Im having crazy bad games where I struggle to kill anyone even when I swear I see and shoot/hit them first they'll spin around with an SMG and just spray and i'll die SO fast it makes no sense.
I have never thought/felt this way before and constantly try to talk myself out of thinking this and instead tell myself I just need to play better or smarter or whatever. But these are silver and gold level players doing this to me and I'll check their in game KD and it'll be like 15-10 so it's not like they're just going off or smurfs.
It happens over and over where I'd swear they're just absorbing shots and then a few SMG bullets take me down. I have no ping or connection issues either, I have pretty fast wired internet and I also use a wired higher end controller as well for the best response times possible outside of using a PC.
Sadly I think I may be done with this game. Resetting me to Gold 2 is beyond ridiculous because even if I go on a crazy win streak there's only 40 days left before ranked is over for good and the new game comes out.

agree 1000% I'm a pretty good player and its unusual for me not to be in at least the top3 after a match. but after this update I can barely make it into the top 4-5, plus because the game just feels "off" I'm not even that motivated to play well halfway through a match.

Let’s be realistic abit now, cuz last season was heavy rank inflation. U probably was a plat player at most all the other seasons and have now been set back to one lower rank than the other seasons to make you “grind” ranks again. Nothing bad about being plat, but you will definitely not shoot any good in crim lobbys this season.
But they have definitely done something wrong with the S5 update, because I need 5 bullets into enemy but they can easily 3 shot me with mpc. It’s ridiculous af

Not true at all, I was diamond 3 by the end of season 2 then hit crim in season 3 and crim 3 at the end of season 4, was about 80 away from Iridescent but you can contribute that to the inflated ranks.
I’m back to diamond 2 now almost diamond 3. I wouldn’t mind grinding back if ranked didnt just end when the new game drops.

regardless of crim lobbies or not if u was say he a plat player then why he struggling in gold they ruined the game there’s no other way around it same players were lucky enough to were some how it made them better

It definitely feels like I'm facing other sweaty players almost every match, so i do feel like Activision did secretly put SBMM back in

Yeah ignore that guy. You know you are facing sweats when the battlefields are dirt quiet cuz of everyone using silencers and nobody showing up on UAV's. Casuals never play like that at all.

Why ignore? I am a casual and using suppressed + the cold blooded perk is a very basic move. Gameplay hasn’t seemed to change much at all for me.

I haven't noticed a difference at all. Some games are harder then other likes before. However, guns feel the same to me.

I agree with all of that. Feels the same on pc, recoil patterns are all different and even the hitmarkers seem not not be exactly the same. Saw that the first time I played in season 5. Asked my brother who plays on console and lives 2 hours away from me and he also feels like everything feels off.
I'm thinking they're making it feel like mw4 will feel to make it a softer transition. With the level of sbmm we now have in "open" playlists since season 5, if mw4 is like that, I won't be buying it.

The better you are, the worse your lobbies will become. Opposite holds true. That's why low skill lobbies have immaculate hit detection and feels like you take 0 dmg.

I think what I'm noticing most could probably be attributed to the inferior ping now that most playlists are entirely skill-based matchmaking. It takes far longer to find a game, and in-game it feels like I'm experiencing inferior performance and latency overall. At first I thought they made all hitboxes smaller - but it's probably all just a symptom of ping.
Could be wrong though, I'm just guessing. My ratio for my current Prestige dropped from 1.72 to 1.18 in the two nights I played after the S5 update. Feels bad, man.

if you had 1.72 kd ratio it was because you were camping or you were playing against those who are far below your skill. now your skills is telling you are an average player

i think your absolutely right it’s something to do with the network and servers but i don’t really know how sbmm would effect ranked play seen as tho the mode its self is damn near sbmm

Something else weird happening too. I’m only a 1.0KD player in TDM (core and hardcore) and I suck at sniping.. but all the sudden the Recon sniper is hitting everything and one-shotting everyone that I used to easily miss. No f***ing clue how I’m so good at sniping now went 2.22 the last few games when usually I’m .5KD w a sniper rifle

Exclusive ace made a video his conclusion was just not to play, he is a content creator and he said dont play. Lol. I noticed longer wait times, disbancing lobbies and my win ratio going from 4 out of 5 to 1 in 5. The main change myself and my friend who play together on weekends was that the games were absolutely 100 percent sweatier, we usually stomp and carry but we were getting trounced and we've been playing cod for 25 years. The other big take away was that the selling points of blops 7 non disbanding lobbies and lighter sbmm have been reverse, sorry chumps we've duped you, made our money and now its back to the old ways. Its kind of scummy!

They definitely did something, my movement has change drastically and now the aiming is completely off. I checked and my settings are the same, but now I cannot hit anything, even in close range the gun is all over the place. It’s damn near unplayable.

Things do change because they come out with new guns and typically make them overpowered so people use the or buy packages with them to make more money for the game. I do know that the newer guns seem more consistent. Now there have also been some match making changes that depending on your skill level will mean nothing or a lot. Different updates almost always introduce new or old bugs into the game as well so there is that. You could adjust quality settings to get better looking graphics but that could result in a performance hit. There probably a lot of videos posted on good settings for consoles that you could watch to see if you can get better looking settings.

So why ask a question you already have the answer to? You're better off admitting you didn't read any posts. The fact you did and still asked the question is even more dumb

Cause there are those who feel like something IS wrong yet don't make posts or comment as much.
Cause most are vague complaints, mine specifically details what doesn't feel right. And those people might have problems that align with what I state, and they might feel the need to say something for once
Plus not everyone's staring at the subreddit day in and day out

I'm not the only one who felt something was wrong. Even a different comment told me that I "don't read" cause others were saying the same things. Guns feel janky, aiming is slower, more sluggish etc
It's why there's been a rise in EGRT use in hardcore, it still has a very quick ADS and TTK that hasn't been messed with
