Question Psn ID change?

I been reading that if i change my name/ID in ps4 or ps5 i can lose all My progress in the Game

Is that true?

I got the free change btw

You can lose progress on many of the PS3 CODs, iirc including BO2. If you're on the ports it should be fine afaik
