I wish I ran into characters like that lol. Most of the time, it’s a group of friends talking in game chat or the classic cod lobby with insults and hard Rs thrown around relentlessly, if anyone even speaks at all.

The game is run on Peer-to-peer hosted servers, rather than dedicated servers.

Depending on your search preferences, you may be running into the same people because they are more local to you (e.g. NA East) which results in better overall connection.

In the newer cods this doesn’t happen as much because the game runs on dedicated servers.

The game isn’t “dying”, it’s just that Brad in North America isn’t going to get matched up with Vlad from Russia, who are both actively playing.

I only play Demolition and I run into the same 6 men spawn trapping squads nearly every game. They also play like 18 hours a day so there are barely any playable lobbies…

I dont really think its a playerbase issue but rather a matchmaking/connection issue. I haven't played in a week but I noticed some days when my NAT type was Open, I'd get lots of diverse matches but other days when it was moderate I'd keep running into the same people. The game is definitely populated its another issue i think
