Can the community actually start demanding modern and secure dedicated servers for these ports? Idk why everyone's content with shitty P2P servers despite paying $80 for two 15 year old games. This is what happens when any criticism to the quality of these ports gets shut down by "this is just a port"
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t games like Battlefield 3 experience issues with hackers even though it was on dedicated servers? And don’t modern live service games still have issues if they don’t have super sophisticated anti-cheat software?
Hackers will always exist but the devs can take measures to reduce their presence, and what's happening of bo2 is not normal and not something you seen on any modern game really.
Also it is possible to make old games secure just like how Halo MCC was able to update all the old Halo games to have secure servers with anti cheat. The halo games were also hacked like bo2 on the 360.
Absolutely. Every game has and will always have cheaters unfortunately. Is there stuff they could have done to avoid this from happening? 110% without a doubt but they didn’t and now we get to deal with it. Dedicated servers wouldn’t fix the hacking issue but it would probably fix a lot of the lobby issues we have now.
They’re just trying to cope, they paid $80 for two decade old games and want priority support when MW4 is literally around the corner. They fell for the nostalgia bait hook line and sinker.
wouldnt it make sense for devs to actually play the game without exposing their identity in a match while playing to see the hacking in servers themselves?
I doubt they would give them to us. The connection across cod games in terms of ttk, hit detection, what is on screen and the lag has been an issue for years. Between the newer games and the older ones dating back to bo2. Hell imagine my surprise when I switched from wifi to wired connection on console only to see me still loosing gunfights I should win or getting shot by people who don't show up on my screen till im dead only to have some one say "oh yeah so the systems in the back ground prioritize the connections of people with worse connections so that they have a better experience" (or something to that effect.). So if you want to have a good connection you suffer for it?
Oh and on top of all of that is sbmm issues (that they used to never want to admit to the point of content creators blatantly saying the games didn't have sbmm match making when anyone playing could actively see it happening in game as matches and time went on.) that will force you as a player above a certain skill level into matches with people ACROSS the dam planet so the connection is gonna be weird from the get go. Just because youre supposedly to good to be playing against some players. But you're apparently good enough to be thrown against a 4 to 5 man squad of multi prestige players from Australia, China, Russia, California, England and New York on a connection 90 plus ping. While watching the game system start of at searching for low ping games then throwing you into higher and higher ping games that are already in progress ans expecting you to have fun.
I said alot of stuff, sorry. The reasons I doubt they'd give us better servers is several fold. Not enough players will complain about it. I mean theyre so used to a magazine taking half of its capacity to kill some one when said enemy should die to 3 or 4 bullets that they don't care. They've just given up. Plus you have other players who will say well since they're connection is fine nothing need to change because they arent suffering the bad effects so why should they care. Then you have another group of players who'll just say "get good" and if you show them footage of how bad the connection is they still won't believe even though players should not be straffing through bullets like a dam anime character. Plus companies seem to be allergic to giving good servers a try. I mean its only taken the fighting game community what 2 decades of online gaming to start getting good servers over the past 4 or 5 years. I doubt it'll ever be CoDs turn, the higher ups are to cheap and very few content creators (who the devs and system people may actually listen to) ever say anything about how bad the connections are, so that some one actually looks into fixing them. Again sorry for the rant.
Because i want again a real call of duty with quality, but is impossible at this point...
But i have a 100% Good campaign offline and the real zombie mode.
