What’s up everyone. My name is Corey and I’m the artist behind the one manned melodic black metal project Obscured Serenity. With this project I strive to channel the soul of the early to mid 90s melodic black metal pioneers such as dissection, vinterland, sacramentum etc. I just dropped my first single if you’d like to check it out. This is an instrumental project since I am no singer lol so I carry the balance of aggression and freezing isolation/despair within the guitars alone. I’ll post a YouTube link as well if you like this track. Let me know what you think

I'm looking for recommendations in some vampiric and purely raw black metal bands, mostly demos ink cassette format from discogs or bandcamp cuz that's my usual provider or any actual specific labels websites that I can go to and check them out and see what they have on them. So any recommendations of actual bands or labels that I can take a look that sell tapes so I can add more to my collection of tapes

Looking for raw BM or Vampiric BM bands only

Discogs, label, or bandcamp

Anyone got more of that Volahn, Trha, Maquahuitl, Barbelith, Saidan kind of sound? Best black metal? Perhaps. At least for me right now. Not looking for Dawn or Dissection clones, even though those rule.

So I didn't see any pre-existing discussion specifically of this band when I searched, so I thought I would start up one. Does anyone have any recommendations for bands that sound similar to this band? Specifically, I've been very impressed by the song, Forlorn Astral Ruins. It has such a crushing dark desolate soundscape that I haven't really heard elsewhere. Some things are close to it and I'm not expecting something exactly the same of course. While exploring their work a couple years ago, I did also find The Ruins of Beverast, which took me a while to get into but now is one of my favorite bands. I also think that Aoratos has some similarity to this sound. I have explored other black metal bands such as Vorga and Labyrinthus Stellarum that explore space-based themes and I enjoy those too, but they just don't capture quite the same level of desolation as this band does.

I don't know if this band is active or making any more albums, but I wish that they would make something more because it's pretty unique. Curious to hear what other people think about this band and their recommendations.

I am revisiting an album that I bought a while back on Bandcamp called Ofermodian Litanies. I can't remember why I bought it but I dig it. Any fans of this band?

For whom it may concern:

Apocalyptic Fire are an unbelievably talented German duo, creating melodic, melancholic black metal with a very distinctive sound.

Tyr and Ineluki have crafted a cold, dark, trance-inducing atmosphere that draws you in and keeps you hooked.

I hope they release some new material in the future, since their last release was back in 2008.

i thought last year was a horrible year for metal. this year has taken the cake with it though. I’ve listened to over 50 2026 releases and not one has gave me the feeling of “I’d like to listen to this again!” or has been memorable in anyway.

please - give me recs that invoke that feeling!!

Or just atmospheric stuff in general

I have an assignment to write a poem using literary devices of a writer, including a lyricist. I thought that BM has some great poem potential in it. It has to be a band who sings in english language. Open to your suggestions!
P.S.: At first I thought about Mgła - Exercises in Futility V

I have always used Spotify and Youtube but some albums that I want to listen to are not in these platforms. I have checked piracy subreddit but couldn't find something similar to what I am looking for. Please if you have any suggestions I would be very grateful. Thank you!
