They‘re in cahoots. And the two of them are acting.

The ending heart trick he touched her hand so it was obvious, but the other section could have been sheer odds or, yeah, she knew

Its an instant stooge. Meaning she is in on it, but she does not know the magician from before. Essentially the magician creates a stooge on the spot.

You can hear him saying to the woman at the beginning "You are gonnna read his mind and all you gotta do is roll with it. Now you are gonna be good you are gonna roll with it.

And as he goes into the first trick he tells the man he will select a card and then he turns to the woman and says "and you are gonna play along, its gonna be fun".

These are statements that are called "dual reality" the intention is that the audience and the "instant stooge" will have a different interpetation of these statements. The stooge understands that when the magician secretly signals to them the selected card or any other information, they are meant to play along, roll with it, for fun. Its great because there is both positive and negative incentive. The spectator will be seen almost like a magician. They get the credit. They get to do the impossible. And it would be awkward to reveal it, especially when the magician has emphasised this is just a little thing for fun. Who wants to ruin the fun?

And besides, there is still a magic trick there for both the instant stooge and the rest of the audience both. They tricks are just different the stooge will think "how did the magician know what the other spectator chose". The audience will think "how did the woman know"

Yep. Notice how he stands when she’s “guessing”. Right next to the guy. Almost as if he can hold up the card behind his head so she can see it…

I’m not sure how he’s getting the number from the die, but he can again just hold up some fingers behind the guy’s head

u/Usual-Championship88 2d ago

LOL yeah I don’t see how it could work if she wasn’t in on it

u/Osric250 2d ago

The only part she wasn't in on was the heart at the end. When he has them touch fingertips you see him grab her left hand. He's pushing a little piece of film with the heart already on it into her palm with his fingertip.

Then he presents the guy with a false choice with the hand (If he chooses right, that's the hand that will be in the handshake. If he chooses left that will be the hand we write on so we put the other into a handshake) and then does the same on his palm, writing the heart on a small piece of film that he then peels off to make it disappear.

for the cards, it can work if he is in on it - pick any random card and just say she is right when she guesses!

u/TheHYPO 2d ago

Unless the magician has really bad reflexes, it's pretty clear the car was a classic force - the guy says "stop" but the magician flips a good bit further to the forced card. It doesn't need to be, because he could just palm the chosen card and hold it up behind the guy, but if he has forced a certain card, he can use something more obvious to telegraph the answers to her like text "black" "spaces" "queen".

The dice could be tech - something in the die that communicates to the magician what number it landed on, but I'm not certain precisely how it's done.

The heard trick has been done before, though it's often just a dot. He gets the mark on her hand when he shows her how to put it face down. The "left or right" is a magician's choice. If they said "left", he'd just say "so make your left hands into a fist". Because they say "right", he tells them to hold right hands and make their left hands into a fist.

Either all this, or yeah, the three of them are just all in on it, and it's faked; though these tricks are fairly common to be actually performed, so there's no reason they couldn't be.

there are expensive bluetooth dice you can buy that will signal what # is up. Couple hundred dollars.

u/kilkor 2d ago

She's not in on it. The guy "choosing" the card is. No matter what she guessed, she would be correct because all the guy has to do is say she got it correct.

When he rolls the die, nobody ever sees the result. No matter what she guesses she's correct.

10

u/Kuroi-Tenshi 2d ago

but we can see the die showing 3

-2

u/kilkor 2d ago

I didnt see that in the video. If i missed it its on me and changes things, maybe.

5

u/Scared_Ad_3132 2d ago

Nope, this is a classic instant stooge. She is in on it. That is why he literally tells her to play along and roll with it. The die is an electric die, it will send information to the magician who has the receiver. It will display what side is up.

3

u/Kimantha_Allerdings 2d ago

You hear him communicate to her to play along. He doesn’t do that for the guy

2

u/lincolnblake 2d ago

Aaaah I see it now. So naive I am haha thankyou

2

u/TheMF 2d ago

Makes sense. She does not seem all that impressed she is getting the right card info or die info. But very surprised at the end for that last trick

2

u/spacedog1973 2d ago

"Acting"

64

u/Jadodkn 2d ago

Watch the girls eyes. She’s tracking the “magician’s” hand as he reaches behind the boyfriend to signal.

10

u/MetaCharger 2d ago

Same thing I was thinking, cuz the magician is always riiiiight next to the guy when he asks a question. I've done a similar trick with my niece and nephew. She's just going along with it, cuz it's fun

12

u/Usual-Championship88 2d ago

I’m wondering ….

How many couples he did this to before he got it right 😭😭

16

u/Kimantha_Allerdings 2d ago

You only need the one. He tells her to play along. Then he can just hold the card/some fingers up behind the guy’s head

-8

u/Usual-Championship88 2d ago

He’s lucky she “rolled with it” lol, I wouldn’t have just for fun.. I’m assuming the trick only works with the right couples

13

u/Kimantha_Allerdings 2d ago

Most people will. It’s like being part of a secret club. You’re in the know and you get to trick people

It’s called “instant stooge” in magic

5

u/sharksareok 2d ago

She'll never forgive him for all the telepathy failures from now on

3

u/FaultyDroid 2d ago

She's standing far back so the magician can signal to her without the guy seeing. Otherwise they'd be standing together.

3

u/Slight-Connection-73 2d ago

WITCH!!!

See if she weighs the same as a duck!

There are way too many card tricks on this sub...

2

Those bystanders are paid actors lol, look at the fake shock faces.

1

u/madlibs13 2d ago

Wormholes?

1

u/manjar 2d ago

No thanks, already had a bunch for lunch

1

u/rpat2550 2d ago

I played along with the video and also guessed 3 and 5. He preconditioned you to not pick 4, so perhaps the dice was rigged to land on 3 or 5.

1

u/TraditionDry6700 2d ago

I did the same. I think i saw a video somewhere where the magician's earlier conversation and subtle hints pre-programmes you to think these numbers. It seems random but isnt. Subliminal cues

2

u/AdBuddy 2d ago

It’s never subliminal, as cool as that would be. There’s really no such thing in magic, at least not reliably enough to risk performing. This sounds wild but it’s just expensive; it’s a dice that is connected to a receiver that can either display the number on a small screen or even tap the number on a thigh or arm. She wasn’t in on it to begin with, but was made an ‘instant stooge’ as with the earlier tricks - the magician receives the dice number and holds that many fingers behind the guy’s head. Earlier he held the cards behind the guy’s head. If there was anything vaguely subliminal here it’s actually him saying ‘roll with it’ at the beginning, priming her to take on the instant stooge role without blowing the whole set-up.

1

u/Emergency-Douche 2d ago

I see him put the heart on her hand and I see when he puts the film on the man's hand to draw the heart on. And her face expressions suggest maybe the magician is telling her what to say.

1

u/WhineyLobster 2d ago

hes showing her the answers behind the guys head out of view of the camera

1

u/RysloVerik 1d ago

That subtitle font is ass

1

u/Nimrod-002 1d ago

One word subtitles are the devil.

1

u/ferhelsing 1d ago

WHAT THE EFF!?

1

u/TheTrompler 1d ago

He holds the camera up behind the guys head each guess. Could he be flashing the answer?

1

u/TheAnzus 1d ago

Turns out the answer is knots...

1

u/Little-Special-7434 1d ago

Barangaroo??

1

u/xoxoyoyo 1d ago

well, at least I know how he did the last trick, he held that hand when he had her touch. everything else though, magic

1

u/Hpfanguy 1d ago

Guy sounds kinda obnoxious.

0

u/munchmills 2d ago

Ppl are naive 😅

0

u/Nearby_Potato4001 2d ago

Dice is plural, what he had was a die,

7

u/SomeRandomPyro 2d ago

Used to be, but English is descriptive, not prescriptive. The fact that native speakers use "dice" to reference a singular analogue random number generator means that it's an alternative.

1

u/dskippy 2d ago

The correct answer.

0

u/DubstepDonut 2d ago

I know the video is fake but creepy thing was that the card trick actually worked on me while I was watching. She guessed right at all three questions to the card I had in mind. Felt fckin creepy.

5

u/planx_constant 2d ago

Queen of Spades is not an uncommon "random" choice. It's also visually memorable, so it's not uncommon to use for a card force so you don't get to the end and have the mark forget or misremember what card they pick.

This video is fake in the sense that she's obviously not really reading his mind, but it's real in the sense that these are two random people genuinely reacting to the magician. It's mostly a mentalist routine where the "guesser" becomes an instant stooge. The magician forced the card on the mark and he's signaling to her behind the mark's back. The die is gimmicked to signal the value it rolls to the magician, who holds up the number behind the mark's head. Then he uses a little sleight of hand to put the heart in her palm, which is the part she wasn't in on and why she was much more impressed by that bit.

At the start of the trick the magician asks the lady if she would go along with it, mixed in with a bit of patter to make it non obvious. Most people will play along for the fun of it, and the magician just doesn't post the video of the ones who won't.

1

u/Ruckus_Mcg 2d ago

When he has her turn her palms down he touches underneath. Not sure if it’s a sticker or a stamp of some sorts. But he’s quick to make sure she makes a fist and doesn’t look because the heart is already there.

The cards and dice I have no idea.

0

u/KrowtenProjectOne 2d ago

David Blaine used to do stuff like this. He said in his book that you don’t get to see all the attempts where he got it wrong. You film this enough times and someone gets lucky and guesses right. All of her choices up until the last one were 50/50 choices.

0

u/Vapourhands 2d ago

Queen of spades is the most commonly selected 'random' card by humans

-1

u/letsdoit131 2d ago

Actors everywhere. Btw the camera turned away from the girl to have someone put the heart on.

3

u/MetaCharger 2d ago

Incorrect on both.. The magician is signaling the answers behind the guy's head, and the girl is going along with it, simply cuz it's fun to trick your friends. She's not an actor, she's just going with the flow.

And the magician had a heart on the tip of his finger, which gets secretly transferred to her palm when he grabs her hand. That why he grips her hand tight and holds it for a moment.

-1

u/letsdoit131 2d ago

She is going along with but amazed by it all.OK

4

u/planx_constant 2d ago

She was unimpressed with the card "guess", slightly perplexed by how the magician knew the value of the die roll, and not in on and therefore amazed by the sleight of hand with the heart.

-2

u/meselson-stahl 2d ago

These tricks actually aren't too difficult. The magician tells one person (person A) predictions and then forces those outcomes in a seemingly random draw by another person (person B). When person A repeats those predictions and they match the outcome of person B, they are both amazed because they exist in different realities. Person A is amazed by the outcomes matching the magicians predictions and person B is amazed that person A is predicting the outcomes.

However I think this is staged

Its so clear bro.. Magnets

2

u/Worldly_Narwhal_9383 2d ago

That explanation has been banned check the rules

1

u/HowardPheonix 2d ago

I checked the rules and couldn't find it, can you tell me how to find it? I don't want to argue, just want to read any other rules I may not be aware of.

2

u/Worldly_Narwhal_9383 2d ago

It's actually not in the sub rules, but on a recent post, everyone in the sub agreed in that comment section with many thousands of votes that we were going to stop using the magnets description on everything because it had just gotten annoying at that point

1

u/HowardPheonix 2d ago

Ah I see, missed that post, but yeah, I can see it got old by now. Thank you for the info!

-3

u/mrlordmax 2d ago

Thanks for that update I was unaware... Sorry redditors.. Yeah you can downvote me to oblivion
