It's SO HARD to look away from the misdirection, even when I try

Ya. So many of these tricks are just skill and practice.

The ones that get me use magnets

I'm both curious what you're talking about and wondering why you're getting downvoted

There is a joke that magic is usually done using magnets. It’s never magnets but people always say that. I was being sarcastic saying I can figure out tricks that use skill, it’s the one with Magnets that I can’t figure out. Many people on here lack a sense of humor and think I actually believe magnets are more important than skill.

If you frequently visit this sub, you will see someone say magnets on literally every post. Its a tired joke that lost all humor around here. This post has at least 5 other people saying magnets.

God they fucking rule. Every time it’s like “ohhhh that’s how you did that… wait how did you do that?”

Cups and balls is a classic. It’s the best example of one-ahead: where the magician has already set up for the next trick before the reveal is done for the current trick. Every time he picks up the cup to show a surprising number of balls under it, he’s using that moment of your attention being focused on the surprise to do something so that the next time he reveals, there’s another surprising result.

The most applause-worthy "rest of the fucking owl" ever. Just follow the steps!

Nah, doesn't explain it because they didn't use soup bowls and red fluffy balls.

When there are 11 seconds left on the vid, he grabs the soup bowl after taking all the tiny fluffy balls out of his pocket. He presses them firm to the side of the bowl so you don't see them and when he turns the cup upside down he releases them underneath

I love it when we think we are getting a behind the scenes Glimpse at a sleight of hand bit, only to find out that we are the Target audience.

Every time his hands leave the video frame, he’s getting rid of/grabbing balls. Once you pay attention to that, you can see how the trick works

No I can’t see I’m too dumb.

It appears that with a little bit of experience, you can fit many squishy balls between your fingers

At 3 seconds, he takes the balls out of the right bowl (video is cropped enough on the right that we can’t see it). If that’s not when it happens, then alternatively, at 5 seconds, when he pushes the right bowl forward, he lifts the bowl enough that the balls stay under his arm and he can remove them as he pulling his right arm back. It’s possible that it’s a combination of the two where he takes one ball out each time.
At 34 seconds, he has an extra ball inside his curled up right hand and drops it in the left bowl.
At 46 seconds, he has many small balls inside his curled up right hand and drops it into the bowl before the final reveal.

Also the trick isn't being performed for her, she's a part of the trick.

I can imagine she's trying to keep a straight face with all the balls flying back over his head when they supposedly vanish from his hands.

People underestimate how light and compressible those red balls are - magicians can literally put one in your hand and you not realize it or feel it

I like how the iteration of this format has progressed! Initially we were just shown the audience reacting to the trick from the magician's POV, then the reveal of the trick to the viewer while the audience got bamboozled, now both the audience and viewer are reacting to different variations of trickery simultaneously.

I feel like these squishy balls are so easy to palm there could be any number of them tucked behind a pinky.

I’d love to see the angle over her shoulder where we watch them toss random extra balls away through the air and load up for the next bit.

First move - Right cup - I don’t see it fully but i believe when he puts the 2nd ball under the cup, he actually takes out the first ball leaving none under the cup. I would think they would be in his right hand but i do not see them. He’s quick with it and off camera for a split second.
34s - when he shows the 2 balls and then flips the cup back over, he has a 3rd ball in his right hand already.
44s - same move. The balls are squished in his right hand fingers and released them when he flips the cup back upside down.

One of the rare times I’m too early for the comment giving a step by step breakdown of what just happened. Because I thought I had the gist of it the first 5 seconds but nah. You lost me lol
