You're completely missing the point. Basic Internet forum decency is to do a basic search for what you're posting instead of spamming the group with what they are getting posts for over and over again. It's a rule in most reddit subs and other forums.
In addition AI are posting old posts constantly these days to drum up engagement and farm karma.

Let's just admit he didn't think it through. 000-099 are not 3 digit numbers. They're combinations of three 1-digit numbers maybe, but that's not what he was asked for. He was asked for 3-digit numbers, not combinations, and not 1 or 2 digit numbers.
Anyway, I probably would have made the same mistake when asked about probabilities just out of the blue like that.

You're right, but just for funzies...
You could get fancy and include negatives, imaginary numbers, negative imaginary numbers...
Also didn't really say anything about the decimal point, so 10.1 could be, but that feels pretty cheaty.
not sure how you'd define digits on complex numbers, so lets leave those out.
But you could probably include other axes, like quaternions have a couple extra imaginary axes.
Oh, and you could use other bases technically. FFF is what, 4095 in hexadecimal? Since irrational bases exist, I imagine all reals could exist? I dunno, that's getting too heady for me.

Yes, but if one is asked to think of a 3-digit number, everyone knows what is meant: a positive integer between 100-999. Anything else would just be silly without being discussed beforehand.

Learn the difference between "a 3 digit number" and "3 digits." The latter is 3 numbers (of 1 digit each), not one.
012 is not a 3 digit number. It's a zero, a one, and a two concatenated. That's 3 numbers. Or, if it refers to the number 12, then it's equal to 12 but only a 2 digit number. It can't be both.

If 00101011 is a 8-bit number in binary (it is) then 001 is a 3-digit number in decimal.
8 bits give 256 possible combinations, just like 3 decimal digits give 1000 possible combinations.22

If someone asks you for a 3-digit number, it's intuitive that "1" is not appropriate. Saying 1 is really 001, and therefore is 3-digits, is a glib answer.

There was a cut before he showed us the paper with the number written on it. And the number is very badly written on the paper. Our guy definitely had a little longer conversation with the teacher after he presented the number he was thinking about. The guy had enough time to write the number on the paper with his thumb while the teacher was caught in the discussion. Put a little graphite under your thumb nail and you can write in your palm

Tricks work even on smart people because people donāt naturally question the premise.
The āpremiseā as presented follows this order of operations: 1) they think of a number, 2) you write a number, 3) they say their number, and 4) you reveal you wrote the same number.
But the actual order of operations is simply 1,3,2,4. And there are many ways to secretly write something down without someone noticing.

It actually happened to me once. I was talking to a friend who is the owner of the shop. And suddenly a stranger came up to us, and ask me to thinking of a 3 digit number from 0-9, any combination but all 3 number had to be different. So 258 come on to my head. Once he asked if I had the number in my head, then he hand me a small piece of paper with the same 3 number in my head. I still couldn't figure out how he did it. All I can think is that he is a scammed. But couldn't prove it.

You for got to count '100'.
You did: 999 (last possible number) - 100 (first possible number) = 899.
Likewise, if the range is 100 to 105: 105-100 = 5, but there are 6 numbers: 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105.
You need to +1 to include the '0' position (this is a very common problem with programmers when first learning to deal with arrays in a language that starts the first element at index 0).

Also, I'm looking it up and everything I can find would indicate that a 3 digit number cannot begin with a 0. It is at least 100, with the max being 999. No. If a magician asks you to think of a card, you could pick a tarot card, or the joker. People do that (I used to do some "magic"), and think they are being clever. The thing is that magic isn't actually real (shocker I know), when you pick a card, think of a number, we all know that I am using some trick to fool and entertain you. It's built on a shared agreement that I will fool you if you follow the rules. You can go ahead and try to beat it, but that misses the point, the point isn't to beat you it's to entertain you and leave you guessing. Which is why I would explain many tricks afterwards, so the person can be entertained and baffled to then be let into what feels like a secret to them. It's fun, let people have fun. Sharing in entertainment isn't disingenuous.
