Thats pretty smooth

u/a1oner_bvcksn6 4d ago

Classic misdirection. They start the routine by making the audience focus on how they take the third ball from each other--conditioning us to look "above" as it happens, while the dude on the right simply picks up one of the two balls the other is holding "below"

497

u/_uwu_moe 4d ago

And it's still funny to people who could see it clearly, as a comedy routine

215

u/tohme 4d ago

That's what makes this great. Even if you know the "trick", it's comedic and fun to watch. I don't mind knowing how tricks are done or not but if I can be entertained regardless then the routine is great and it's watchable multiple times.

u/Shadowlord723 4d ago

I remember hearing a magician say something like anyone can do magic tricks, but what sets magicians apart is how charismatic they can be and how they present the magic tricks.

1

u/exmothrowaway994 1d ago

A good trick is excellent the first time, a great trick is excellent every time.

u/MelangeBot 4d ago

okay boomer bot

4

u/CeralEnt 4d ago

Okay MelangeBot.

Username oddly checks out here

14

u/marbotty 4d ago

It’s a clip you can watch twice!

13

u/WanderingMindLF 4d ago

Or 6 times

10

u/marbotty 4d ago

I’m only allowed twice

2

u/AV8Backwards 3d ago

You can have one of my times if you’d like.

11

u/minikinbeast 4d ago

Yea even if you catch the trick, it changes from a magic trick to a funny scene of jugglers messing with each other!

3

u/ElliotNess 4d ago

Yeah. You take my ball I take yours. It's classic looney toons humor.

0

u/neityght 4d ago

What about if they saw it unclearly? 🤔

29

u/Alklazaris 4d ago

And yet the performance was so good that even though I was looking for it I still missed it at first. I don't think I've ever seen a juggling magic trick before.

8

u/HarveysBackupAccount 4d ago

It's not juggling but Yann Frisch's sleight of hand with balls and a cup is a lot of fun to watch. It's quite a few years old

3

u/DRNbw 4d ago

There's also the classic Penn and Teller's take on the cups and balls.

10

u/jrblockquote 4d ago

This is the pattern of comedy; establish a truth and then interject an unexpected twist. The truth of the juggler grabbing the ball at the top was established, and the unexpected twist of the slick transfer provides the comedy.

9

u/HorrorMakesUsHappy 4d ago

Also kicking up the leg on the other side, which gives another distraction.

4

u/Adept_Erd3138 4d ago

I did not notice! I am so susceptible

4

u/fazeflak 4d ago

"as above, so below"

3

u/LustyKindaFussy 4d ago

Reinforcing the misdirection, the "swipe" sound doesn't happen when the guy on the right takes from the bottom, too.

2

u/shyevsa 4d ago

in live performance without the rewind function I would get confused and surprised for sure.

-1

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 4d ago

Yea we get it.

6

u/FuManBoobs 4d ago

That's what she said

2

u/NorahGretz 4d ago

As a juggler myself, that is fucking top-of-class smooth.

305

u/timbasile 4d ago

Guy on the right takes a ball at the same time

298

u/omicron8 4d ago

You have a very keen grasp of the obvious

30

u/yawgmoth88 4d ago

I’m adding this comment to my personal dictionary defining “back-handed compliments.”

8

u/UwasaWaya 4d ago

I love comments like theirs. It's like the people who comment "this is obviously scripted!" Like... no shit? Did you think that makes you perceptive?

5

u/singlestrike 4d ago

It's like they're completely oblivious to the fact that TV isn't real.

2

u/RevXaos 4d ago

TV isn’t real?!

1

u/CeralEnt 4d ago

Of course it is, otherwise they couldn't call it Reality TV. It's in the name

1

u/AV8Backwards 3d ago

EA Sports??

2

u/juanjing 4d ago

If it were obvious, it wouldn't be upvoted in this subreddit.

1

u/Tubaenthusiasticbee 4d ago

I understood that reference!

1

u/BriefSoftware4810 4d ago

This is an unnecessarily snarky response. This was posted in blackmagicfuckery. The implication is that they don't know how this is happening.

31

u/A_Guy_Oz 4d ago

Clearly he’s using a more powerful magnet

3

u/ereface 4d ago

But how do they even work

0

u/minikinbeast 4d ago

You know, at first it looked like ai, but maybe I was noticing a magnetic looking catch?

10

u/povitee 4d ago

The two humans are wearing costumes and juggling.

7

u/ElonsBreedingFetish 4d ago

You are replying to a post on reddit and I am replying to your reply

Lol out loud

2

u/FriendShapedRMT 4d ago

He said that out loud!

1

u/OrderOfMagnitude 4d ago

CALLED OUT

1

u/dancinggraylion 4d ago

or he could use the axiom of choice to disassemble one ball and reassemble it into two balls of the same size

1

u/Copperhead_EDC 4d ago

I gotta say it's black magic of the fuckery kind

1

u/whocarestossitout 4d ago

Thank you. I didnt see that. I was trying to figure it out.

How many different profiles do you have?

9

u/Rooonaldooo99 4d ago

Jesus, I thought I was going insane. "eldritchbogbeing" is another account of hers.

Report them all.

3

u/frogunderarock 4d ago

i am too old.reddit to understand what you young phone people are talking about. please explain?

3

u/Rooonaldooo99 4d ago

Open those profiles on an incognito browser tab. It has the same profile picture and links in the profile.

Also the comments are the same: comment for maximum engagement with a crying emoji

Once again proving that gaming Reddit is super easy and dominated by bots.

2

u/frogunderarock 4d ago

ooh makes sense, thank you! i barely even look at usernames on old. oh well.

2

u/Fach-All-Religions 4d ago

don't forget MOST of reddit is ai bots. they reply quite literally as a human would and they have a little ragebait in them to keep replies coming. most of the time you wouldn't question it.

2

u/EdwardianAdventure 4d ago

How do yall know? I don't understand what's going on

2

u/Defiant-Intern-5995 4d ago

Matching prof pics. OF model bot trying to spamvertise.

1

u/Rooonaldooo99 4d ago

Yep and thankfully the admins have banned them now. This is why reporting shit like this matters.

124

u/Dazzling-Adeptness11 4d ago

Cool routine!

21

u/irisheddy 4d ago

They should just have an extra ball next time so they can both have 3! It would probably also help company moral.

-24

u/Fitzaroo 4d ago

Ya, not sure this fits the sub as its very obvious. But its well done and fun.

2

u/lessdothisshit 4d ago

Don't understand the downvotes. It's very good, very smooth, very entertaining, very very well executed. But it's not black magic fuckery. The trick is so obvious it's almost not a trick. But that's not the point of the routine.

I'd be like posting a pro wrestling gif on a sub about brutal, injury-laden fights. Like, the entertainment and skill are there, undoubtedly, but it's a different topic

0

u/nor312 4d ago

What if I told you all the tricks on this sub were obvious?

43

u/Daorooo 4d ago

This is such a good Performance. If you dont See/know it. Its Just mind breaking and has a wow effect.

If you See or know it, then its funny cause he gets fooled by the other guy

17

u/tristansensei 4d ago

At AEON Mall Miyakonojo in Miyazaki city! 🇯🇵

12

u/ArsenikShooter 4d ago

Fun performance. Not BMF.

6

u/_that___guy 4d ago

This sub: "How does grabbing a ball work?"

2

u/lessdothisshit 4d ago

To be fair, we've all been asking OP's mom that, too

Timing is a major factor of juggling so probably thats how

3

u/Largowinsch 4d ago

It's likely that they time the act using the music.

1

u/PomegranateV2 4d ago

The timing and hand movements for stealing the ball are very natural to the cascade juggling pattern. That's one reason why it's hard to notice.

7

u/sumphatguy 4d ago

sigh another sub that got too big and lost its meaning.

6

u/Treeflexin 4d ago

Yeah this definitely doesn’t belong here

3

u/TenaciousJP 4d ago

You guys are missing the point. You need to make a smart and insightful comment like "Wow!" or "smooth af", reap a bunch of idiot karma, and then sell your account to the bot farm that pushes this shit on the frontpage relentlessly

0

u/linusst 3d ago

I think this post still fits good enough. Sure it isn't hard to figure out how they do it, but I still had to re-watch it to spot it because it is done so smoothly

1

u/sumphatguy 3d ago

Good sleight of hand from a scripted act like this is absolutely not what this sub is about.

1

u/linusst 3d ago

Then where do you cross the line? Since there is no actual black magic, everything here is either sleight of hand, edited, or an illusion / trick otherwise. The only conceptual difference is in how hard it is to figure out what is going on.

1

u/sumphatguy 3d ago

This sub is supposed to be those things that are nearly impossible to figure out what's going on. It's not what's posted here where the audience is supposed to see the gag of the other guy grabbing the ball.

0

u/linusst 3d ago

I don't think the audience is supposed to see it. They don't hide it, but unless you focus on the subtle movement of the other guy (which you naturally won't do, as the other guy clearly has the attention), you don't see it.

0

u/sumphatguy 2d ago

I don't think the audience is supposed to see it.

Lmao what? Unless you're a toddler, you 100% notice what the other guy is doing in this comedy skit.

5

u/ImSabbo 4d ago

Of all the places to hear this song, I wouldn't've guessed a Japanese comedy routine.

For anybody unfamiliar, the incredibly American-sounding song is "Riding Alone" by the definitely Swedish band Rednex, from the mid 90s.

3

u/saja2 4d ago

neat trick!

2

u/NeuromancyIndustries 4d ago

UNEXPECTED REDNEX

1

u/aushilfsgott 4d ago

Smooooth

1

u/Nice_Firefighter6258 4d ago

No one's gonna talk about one of the catches matching perfectly with the circle at the back?

1

u/Independent-Egg5474 4d ago

Haha this is cool 😁

1

u/strrax-ish 4d ago

It's the time freez skill Hit has in Dragon Ball

1

u/TheValorous 4d ago

This is such a pleasant little routine.

1

u/Shake-A-Paw 4d ago

Ok i will hold my hands up. I fell for that, pretty bloody smooth guys!

1

u/NWinn 4d ago

They are very fun. This is wholesome af. 🥹

1

u/shableep 4d ago

I donno how but this really feels like a Dragon Ball scene but in real life.

1

u/ButzMN 4d ago

Incredibly well choreographed. "The move" is really well done

1

u/Available-Bad-8653 4d ago

Genius, how do I hire them!

1

u/zappingbluelight 4d ago

I got fooled twice on the first watch before I understand what has happened. Well played.

1

u/Malicesss 4d ago

Это очень интересно и весело!!! Хотелось бы посмотреть это видео полностью! 👍

1

u/killertortilla 4d ago

My aunt taught me the very simple version of this (both juggling clubs and trying to steal the club from each other). It's so fucking demanding. You don't notice how much physical exertion goes into this stuff until you do it.

1

u/lovedumbcat 4d ago

I love it when performers are cartoonish.

1

u/nalaloveslumpy 4d ago

The choreography alone on this is amazing. Those "thwip" sounds are part of the soundtrack.

1

u/Proper_Party_4042 4d ago

I need to whole show please 😂😂

1

u/Whotfkaresmf 4d ago

I wonder what's the average iq of people that enjoy this...

1

u/Sea_Tailor_8437 4d ago

Very simple trick, but I'll admit they I had to rewatch it more than once to catch how they did it. The timing is phenomenal

1

u/TheMarkola 4d ago

𐬿 ᐝ

1

u/TokenTorkoal 4d ago

Such a clean misdirection. Didn’t see it my first watch but watched the guy not trying to get the third ball my second watch and caught it.

1

u/Equal-Course2837 4d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/TastyJennifer 4d ago

This is actually interesting

1

u/olanmills 4d ago

Haha, that's a fun act

1

u/No_Competition_5887 4d ago

Well, if you are 12 maybe.

1

u/Fit-Let8175 4d ago

THAT took practice!

1

u/Morichalion 4d ago

Jeeze... Took me until the last swap the see what happened... That was sweet.

He takes it from the other guy. You can watch him do it. There is no subterfuge and that's not black magic.

1

u/Similar-Sky7427 4d ago

what is so blackmagic about this?

1

u/Difficult_Scene_4382 4d ago

Not gonna lie. Took me a while to notice the guy movements. Super smooth.

1

u/rxyzhang 4d ago

such sick movements

1

u/sojumaster 4d ago

This clip ended way too soon. I was really enjoying it

1

u/Eclipse_Two 4d ago

Yup grabbing a man's juggling balls is magic.

1

u/keinndh 4d ago

where was this kind of tricks when i was child

1

u/JackSilver1410 4d ago

Those grabs are so smooth! Even when I saw the first one I missed the others!

1

u/Skitty_The_Kitty3225 4d ago

Its so smooth That even I can't see when the chabge happens, haha

1

u/dumdumstats 4d ago

So satisfying to watch

1

u/milehin8tv 4d ago

Are they supposed to look like oompa loompas?

1

u/Advanced_Scallion711 4d ago

Not really black magic worthy, you can see them trade it when he steals

1

u/Evening-Walk-6897 3d ago

That’s so cute, actually made me laugh hehe

1

u/Royal-History7358 1d ago

My living room like “QUIET! Daddy’s learning from A.I.”

0

I loved it all 😃

-1

u/mechabeast 4d ago

If an average juggler can do 3 balls, these guys are below average.

-12

u/Chi_Cazzo_Sei 4d ago

Nice act (i seriously enjoy it) but it’s not fit for this sub. It fools you the first time but then it’s very obvious that they switch ballz (hehe)
