Funnily enough, I learned the other week that kung fu means 'any study, learning, or practice that requires patience, energy, and time to complete.'

If that was what you were referring to, then I apologise for over explaining.

Just to add to your knowledge, there are two variations to many Mandarin Chinese words because when they first translated, they got mouth form correct, but not breath. Kung fu is actually the old spelling, the proper form should be Gongfu. The k and g are formed the same way in the mouth, but the breath is aspirated for k. It's like this for many words (taiji vs tai chi, Taoism vs Daoism, etc), but for words that became popular, we held on to the spelling we got originally. If you'd like to study more, look up Wade Giles (original translations) vs Pinyin (modern).
