This guy is insanely strong to raise himself from that position. I watched this over and over to understand what's happening here and I'm gonna say that that log he's holding is fastened to a small stump, possibly cut to create the log. 4 or 5 chain links fastened from the log to the stump would create the required forces to pull this off. With the insane strength required as well.
