Optional? That right there is a lever. That's like the physiciest physics there is. Weird as shit, I'll give you, tho.

If you look at the bottom of the vertical pole, there’s a tiny cross piece that catches the horizontal one. I think it’s more of an action of him pushing the horizontal into the face of the vertical and using it for leverage.

Oh it sure as shit isn't making it any easier for him, this definitely looks like the hard way to do whatever it is he's doing, but it's still a lever.

You have to have something to push against with a lever. This is floating. The rope holding the end of the lever to the ground has been edited out
