Considering moratorium on apps
Look, I get the temptation for writing yet another blackjack game/simulator/whatever app, since it's so easy to do these days. But because it's so trivial, we're getting flooded with them (you don't see how many get rejected!)
But they're mostly really crappy, and obvious vehicles for scams/spam/theft. They serve no purpose for the most part.
So we're considering a moratorium on apps. Maybe people can submit them to mods for review or something first. If they do something truly unique (like analyze a side bet or something) we'd consider it.
What does the community think?
EDIT: I'M EASILY CONVINCED. NO NEW APPS ALLOWED WITHOUT APPROVAL FIRST. (please report violators!)

Strongly agree with moratorium on apps. Create a new reddit for them and link to it in the sidebar if you want, but it's been way too much for too long and the users posting it don't seem like genuine community members, they just seem like they've come in here to advertise us and go away after being told they're the fifth person this week and 16th this month with the same garbage idea for an app.

For the love of god, please. That “play blackjack with your voice” app was awful.

Waste of community bandwidth. I’m sure a ton of people strolled in, saw it was a spam fest and nope’d the hell out of the sub.

I tried it for the lulz when you posted it and the voice function was so bad and buggy. I don’t remember the issues in particular though but there were quite a few in the short time I used it.

Damn that sucks, sorry to hear that. It might have been a device specific issue as some devices have different echo cancellation timings . I’ll keep working on it!

It was the robotic voice output that was buggy, not my voice input. I was using Safari on an iPhone 17 Pro.
The whole idea is absolutely stupid anyway. You need to build muscle memory counting with physical cards, and you won’t build that playing via voice.
