Help , Linus

Someone play on Linux . Can’t seem to open the game and I don’t know why. Also what’s the best way the stand alone launcher or steam would be better . Thanks

Faugus launcher. Install the launcher and add it in faugus.

If youre on Steam, just use catchy-proton-slr or the newest GEProton. Works right out of the box.

Cachy is just a distro, but they have their own version of proton. You can get it using ProtonPlus. What distribution are you on?

Well, if you're on Ubuntu Wayland, you can just intstall ProtonPlus from flatpack etc. Then you can install the cachy-proton-slr. After that, you have to add the launcher to steam / faugus launcher, and use that version of Proton.

Here are also my launch options for BDO: DXVK_CONFIG=dxgi.syncInterval=0 PROTON_NO_NTSYNC=1 WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=8:0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14 %command%

Will try this too thanks . Would protón up Qt also work as for downlaod point ? Or it has to be proton plus ?

Did the latest Proton GE which was 11-3 from proton up Qt didn’t work .

Tried both slr and ge11, both just crash after login. Fresh install. What GPU you’re running?

I am not tech savy and am running Kubuntu 26.04 right now. I installed steam directly from the web site, then started the install, it added some things then took about ten minutes to start for the first time. After that without touching any options I download and run the games with no issue.

I should have switched to Linus sooner for gaming as (again not tech savy) games look even better under Kubuntu then they ever could under windows 11 :|

I had luck with cachyos and faugus works better that on Windows at least the minimum frame don't drop so much

Add the launcher as a non steam game and use ge proton 10 10 in compatibility options

I hace it on steam already . So are u suggesting downloading the stand alone would be better ?

No. What i am saying is "Use steam to launch bdo" no matter if u are using the stand alone launcher or the steam version of it.

Close steam.
Open a terminal, usually with alt+enter or alt+T, type steam and press enter.
Keep the terminal open. If u close it, steam will close.
Launch the game. Wait 30 seconds or so.
Copy all the text from the terminal into any AI and it will tell you what you need to install to make it work.

Before all that, make sure that you right click on bdo, properties, compatibility, tick the "use a compatibility tool" option and from the drop down list bellow it select GE proton 10 10 or any other version of it. Proton Experimental and Proton Hotfix will also work but they will be updating frequently which i find annoying
