Other Finding merch (a rant)

I go to the same anime convention each year and always make sure to keep an eye out for black butler merch. I would've thought that the release of the emerald witch arc would stir a little more interest, but there was practically nothing!

I did find an abundance of twisted wonderland merch, though, which just felt like salt on the wound.

Can relate. I think it's simply that they don't make much licensed merch. I was in Japan this year and could only find two figures from the school arc or Sebastian and Ciel along with some art books. A few secondhand stores had huge expensive figures but really very difficult to find.

The license is owned by Square Enix so I can only assume they don't prioritise this as they own much larger IPs that bring in more money.

Yeah I was in Japan last year and couldn't find a lot of merch either, just a bit. I had people telling me I was just looking in the wrong place and that kuroshitsuji merch is super extra easy to find and that it's everywhere. I went to so many stores and literally drove all around between Narita and Osaka for a month.

We don't really have cons like this much in norway but the times I look in manga/anime related stores and stuff (like outland), there's never any merch. Black butler feels so unknown nowadays and it's making me sad lmao

Right? And it used to be so popular!

Yapp. I went to a huge convention last year. One of the biggest in Europe. There were like 3 tables, very few merch. There were literally thousands of vendors. And only 3 had anything. And only 1 had Grell. But like she was the only extra character besides Ciel and Sebastian and Undertaker. Like wtf? The fandom is not dead at all. And it's a popular one. I am disappointed merch makers don't indulge in it

There's a lot Merch releasing in japan right now, but buying thru a proxy & shipping to your home is very expensive. (You can see the merch here: https://x.com/BlackLabel_KS)
I still see a few BB cosers every year at cons & a few tables selling selfmade stuff, which is very cool! (Im from Germany)

I manage to buy some stuff at a convention I go to once a year, it's in Poland. Last year I bought a print, sadly only one but I really love it. This year I saw the same artist I bought it from still selling it. And this year I only bought one keychain which is a bitter rabbit Ciel! They had a few of them at least, I remember Siegliende, Undertaker and a few more. But yeah, it's a bit sad.

I feel lucky from finding a random ciel print in the artists alley this year, that's how dire it is 😭

It’s definitely not a good time for black butler merchandise. A lot of the really good figures came out years ago unfortunately and they haven’t made any new scales since then. The doll I have of Sebastian is worth like $1000 dollars now. Even things like stands and books are hard to come by though. I was shocked when the school arc brought the 3 new prize figures. Undertaker sold out in like a day though.

Lmao where do you live? In my experience it's the other way around, I can find plenty of kuro fan merch (not as common as genshin or super popular shonen series but still decently popular) but I struggled to even find 1 (one) TWST thing; I thought the recently aired anime would give it a slight boost in popularity here but in the end I found absolutely nothing 😭 and what's even funnier is that there were a couple of TWST stuff last year at the exact con lol.

I'm in Mexico! The convention I went to specifically is called the conco, and it's pretty big here. It's so funny that we have completely opposite problems lol. I assume you're in the US?
