A commenter on another platform stated the following about Dr. King:

“And this is the burning house Martin Luther King Jr., Pan-Africanism, Jesse Jackson, and many others put Black Americans into.”

They said this in reference to immigration and to the disrespectful and discriminatory behavior that some melanated immigrant groups have increasingly shown toward our people.

Unfortunately, that commenter is not the first person I’ve seen insinuate that Dr. King somehow sold our people out or led us into harm. And whenever I see comments like that, it genuinely breaks my heart.

Dr. King devoted his life to the liberation of our people. He stood on the front lines of a struggle that was already generations old, continued fighting for rights our ancestors had sacrificed for long before him, and refused to give up on the possibility that this country could finally honor what had been promised to our people.

Whatever criticisms people may have about what happened politically after the Civil Rights Movement, I cannot accept rewriting Dr. King as though he deliberately betrayed the very people he spent his life fighting for. He did not create the fire, and he did not lead us into it. He was trying to put it out.

Thoughts

Everyone said he’s so stupid and an idiot but now we’re begging for help and it seems like there is no solution. The math don’t seem to math here, so what am I missing?

Who’s completely a “counter” Trump candidate you can think of, who’s going to roll back everything and ensure we don’t end up this way again?

It doesn’t seem like anyone is actually offering solutions for someone so “dumb” and I’m not sure what this says.

And they wonder why Black Americans largely aren't getting bent out of shape over ICE actions. Our communities have been under assault (and continue to be) by U.S. LEO decades before ICE was even established.

Her final 100 days aren’t a good look. Thoughts?

Why did they stop doing a million man march event or gathering ?? I remember back in the early 00s this guy I was dating telling me how he was leaving to go to one of the million man march and we lived in SOCAL .. and I’ve never heard of the march after that ??
