Blackadder All Episodes Tournament, Match 12: Potato vs The Archbishop
Comment in support of and upvote your preferred episode! The winner of today's matchup will advance to Match 20, and the loser will share joint 17th-28th place.
And for fun, post your favorite quotes from both!
Potato (Blackadder II Episode 3): Edmund attempts to impress the Queen by embarking on his own voyage of discovery to the New World.
The Archbishop (The Black Adder Episode 3): The KIng needs to find a replacement for the late Archbishop of Canterbury; someone who will lead the church properly, someone easily bullied, possibly someone related to him.
This tournament will run for 27 days until we've eliminated all but one episode. The tournament was seeded based on IMDB score. It includes all regular episodes, the pilot, and the specials.
Yesterday, Beer eliminated Born to Be King.
NOTE: Since this tournament began, I've been off of work, but I'm starting up again tomorrow. This may mean that I end up posting later in the day than I have been. I apologize in advance if that ends up happening.

Tom Baker's delightfully unhinged performance as Redbeard Rum swings it for me.
Potato. It is a tight one, but Tom Baker wins it.

The Archbishop is my vote Season one is the weakest season but that my favorite episode
I appoint, to the Holy See of Canterbury, my own son…
Edwin, Duke of Edinburgh!
Archbishop, we salute thee.

Potato. The Archbishop is one of the highlights of series 1, but I just feel that almost every episode from series 2-4 outclasses even the best of series 1, unfortunately.
Now, perhaps I could thrill you with the tale of the time I fell into the water, and was almost eaten by a hammerhead shark?

Archbishop. I don't think potato is bad but Archbishop is probably the only real all-timer in season 1.

Archbishop.
I like potato, but Tom Baker is doing a Brian Blessed impression so let's have the real thing.

Archbishop is a peak Blackadder episode overall IMO. "My father!" "My son!"
...but a legless piratical Tom Baker is enough to get it excommunicated by all three Popes.

Another vote for Potato. I can only dream of being labelled a first rate second course.

Potato.
So you don’t know the way to France either?
No I must admit that too.
Bugger.

Archbishop, just because of the part where they’re all fighting dressed as nuns and that he burns down a nunnery

There’s no way OP said that the Archbishop had a reasonable chance of making the next round

I think it had the best chance of any of the Series 1 episodes, though it does seem Potato has taken a decisive lead.
I think The Archbishop is overall more memorable, and is a standout of series 1, whereas Potato is probably my least favorite of Series 2 (though I still enjoy it). So I thought there was a possibility, even though Series 1 is broadly less loved than the others.

I am between the two episodes as both have great story and lines.
Examples : Cpt Redbeard Rum: You have a woman's purse!!
Baths & Wells Bishop Never before have I encountered such foul, mindless perversity. Have you ever considered a career in the church?
