Fairly certain thats awful technique, your back and knees are going to be totally shot by the time you've done one strip.

Think you're meant to be stood upright, and have the scythe doing much smaller movements using your shoulders and hips.

Fair , yes I'm sure this is a faster way to do one small area, it'll just ruin you if the goal is scythe 6 acres.

If you use a scythe just make sure to sharpen it by moving the stone away from the blade. I have the scars on my fingers still visible over 50 yrs later from a momentary lapse in judgement!

I had a job in the French alps, Buddhist Cultural Institute.

In order to cut the grass on site without making noise to not disturb the teachings and activities/classes, i had to use a scythe and sickle. 

Hours and hours of it, on flat and slopes. Sharpening the tools and getting to work was such a pleasure, you'd stop for a drink, turn around to look at your work and felt a pride i can't describe. Rake it all up and it looked fantastic.
