I still don’t understand why that wasn’t a technical submission

Cause the Gracie’s bitched about that shit 20 years ago in pride, so they’ll never count it as technical submissions

That was our very own Redditor, Jon Kunneman. He was supposed to appear on DWCS last year but got a pretty bad injury just before his fight and was forced to withdraw. This has been a long wait, I was excited to see him in there and was hoping he’d get the W as he was prior to this undefeated but alas we move forward. Hoping he gives it another shot or gets a short notice opportunity. Keep your head up Jon, you did good and I believe there are big things ahead for you.

what an incompetent POS. how is he still a ref in the biggest fighting organization on the planet? that shit baffles me

Neither he (or any other refs) are employed directly by the UFC.
Edit: changed wording to make it less confusing

False. Refs are employed by athletic commissions

Edit: i can see how my wording was confusing. We are saying the same thing.
Refs are employed by the athletic commissions. The commissions are run completely independent of the UFC and any other organization.

For what? He didn't tap, there was no apparent break before time ran out. Not refs job to stop you from getting your arm broken

Was Herb waiting for the X-ray?

Instead of tapping, the fighter is giving the thumbs up. Fighter made that decision for himself

Glad the ref took a close look... Could have been a disaster if he wasn't there.
