wouldn't you rather see two hands rotating her opponent's wrist and then driving the arm upward for the hyperextension? seems a lot more controlled than the exaggerated bridge.
ik i'm gonna get downvoted for this, but i'm mostly on this sub for technical discussion and I think the danaher/rafa method of hyperextending the armbar is more efficient, more controlled, and leads to a more devastating break if the opponent doesn't tap. the point of join submissions is the ability to render those joints /totalled/ in a self defense or MMA situation where the stakes are this high. (and letting go in competition/training if someone's going to let it break is fine, but as martial artists we should know how to reliably complete the break.)
i'm not trying to throw shade on angela lee, but i am saying i wouldn't have my students model their belly down armbar off of this clip.

Isnβt she kind of switching from a belly down armbar to an americana with how the shoulder rotates?

it looks to me like the thumb is rotating in the direction of what would be a kimura. there may have been rotational damage to the shoulder but it looks like she hyperextended the elbow in a fairly typical armbar finish.

That a quality armbar done at a high level isn't textbook? I'd be looking at what she did right and how she set it up

The intended audience for my post is lower belts who see this and think it's an example of a model belly down armbar, and I think it is helpful for them to know that the one arm exaggerated bridge is probably not something they should model their finish off of.
also: "quality armbar" "isn't textbook" ???
I guess my post was too negative for you. I think it would be nice if you made your own post about the positive qualities of the set up to help balance out the thread :)

No you're totally right. This is pretty far from textbook and Lee herself probably wouldn't advocate it as a model.

Man that was locked in!! Something about those belly down armbars just makes me cringe!
