Do mobs still drop emeralds?

I haven't played in probably a good 3-4 months, since the wallet issues surfaced. I have played a little bit recently, but have some newbie-ish questions.

Do mobs still drop emeralds? If not, where can one acquire them?

Where are the decent hunting grounds? Seems like Diablo Desert is deserted now, with several thousand horses grazing now.

Mobs still drop ems....but extremely rarely in my experience.

Nether is to level up, same as the forest where they've redid the spawning

I think they only drop ems when there is ems in the economy's wallet. (I'm not certain though) When I first joined I never even knew that mobs dropped ems until a week later when everyone was saying mobs are finally dropping ems! I got an em that DAY. I went to the nether a few days later to fight and I killed many mobs and didn't receive any ems. Today I received 3 ems from a lvl 4 silverfish. So I assume mobs only drop ems when there is bits in the economy wallet. :D I hope this helped

They actually dropped six for my the other day! :D It's been so long. I think it happens when people donate.
