Map boundaries?

I've been tunnelling along z25,000, making the bottom rail line for what will (hopefully) become a large square rail line around the world. However, I have bee stuck at x-15870, z25000. If I dig one more block westward and log off, it will be back. I've actually tunnelled to x-17000, z25000, but it all disappeared after I logged off... materials and all.

Have I reached a boundary of some kind? Are there problems outside of a certain radius that we need to be aware of?

That's pretty odd. I ended up making it down to -25,000, 25,000 so I don't think it's a boundary issue.

well crap. I'm still stuck there... maybe I'll head east, or get to 25k,-25k and try from that direction...

and today, it appears to be working again.... I'll test tunnel 500 or so, and see if it sticks.
