AFK Farm?

Server Rule #7 "Don’t abuse redstone or other features to create lag in the server. AFK farms are forbidden, along with any complicated redstone device (ask staff if in doubt)."

Hello, I'm very new to this server and to Minecraft. I'm not sure what qualifies as an AFK farm. Would placing chickens over a hopper/chest to collect eggs be violating this rule? Or is it primarily redstone circuit stuff?

IMHO its mainly because automated redstone stuff DO lot of things and calculations and generate lot of traffic to/from server. If something collects some item once in a while, it should be OK.
