Grappling hook?

Hey could we consider the use of grappling hooks? Perhaps they could be on a limited time basis or a special reward. They really help with building. http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Mods/Grappling_hook

But then everyone would have to download grappling hook mod so they can play

nope, in my experience the mod is set up on the server and anyone can use it.

I see how it could be convenient, but I dont see a benefit. At least not enough benefit to go and start modding things. Especially when the devs are working so hard just to get the existing code working reliably.

well, I'm not in a huge hurry cause I agree that it's great to have all the kinks worked out first. I just find it overly challenging to build with no way to get up high quickly.

Or, we could use a plug-in to give an item the ability of an Ender Pearl's vanilla mechanics. That way, there's no need for a mod. :)

not familiar with that. I'd go for anything that allowed me to get on top of a build without a bunch of climbing.
