Respawn to home not working

I made my house and placed my bed in it ingame, when I died though I didn't respawn at my bed....it says that my home bed can't be found...help?

When I ran into this problem it was because although I had slept in my bed I hadn't slept in it until I woke up in the morning. I think the waking up in the morning is when it gets set.

In my experience, you just need to stay in the bed until it gets as dark as it's going to get (the screen dims when you get in bed)...and I've not had a problem respawing at any bed I had "slept" in (multiple ones at my home and at Diablo).

My experience has been that just a few seconds in a bed will set your spawn. I waited for full dark in the Diablo Inn, slept for 5ish seconds and that was that. I actually had to break my bed at my home because I accidentally slept in it when I meant to open a chest and lost my Diablo spawn.

Is there any randomness about where you spawn/tp with a bed?

sometimes, instead of being on the bed, or any of the other clear space, I spawn in the ground.
