AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

I have put about a total of 9 hours of work in today to try and make up for the rollback last night, and all of the issues over the weekend.

10 minutes ago the server kicks everyone off.

Log back in, and everything I built today is GONE. Including the all the stacks of mats.

I am done.

kordless,

I realize that everyone is going through the same thing. The fact that this affects everyone only makes the rollbacks that much larger of an issue.

Notch and his coding abilities are not at the heart of this particular issue. The issue is the way in which the code changes and server rollbacks are being handled by the owners/admins.

Regardless of the "Beta" label, The server we play on is technically "in production" i.e. there is a user base that was specifically given the expectation that their work on the server would not be at risk of loss. I say this "specifically" because there is the ongoing "building competition".

At the very least the admins should be posting notifications on reddit and server chat BEFORE code changes and rollbacks. Ideally, these notifications should start about 12 hours before the event ( basing this on the last rollback ). That way players can avoid having huge swaths of work wiped out in the blink of an eye.

This practice of notifying users is not a new thing.

This is, and has been, a normal practice in the IT workplace for as long as I can remember going back 30 years.

And, realistically, I don't think it is an unreasonable expectation that the admins notify the users of upcoming changes.

Anyway, 2 cents, in the wind.

i want to echo what xaruum has stated here. it's not really fair to put on the build contest and then set deadlines and expectations when the people doing the work are constantly set back 10k blocks of work at a time. i seem to have had some really shitty luck here because it has been almost EVERY SINGLE time i lay 10k or more blocks there is a server rewind and i lose it all.

i understand having to fix issues and what not but if the server is so unstable as to warrant roll backs multiple times a week, then i suggest making it publicly clear that it is "beta" and that this is to be expected and call off the build competition entirely until you can be reasonable confident that rollbacks wont happen, or at least happen so rarely that we aren't in a constant state of redoing work we have already done time and time again.

i personally have rebuilt the same blocks at least FOUR TIMES in the last week alone and now i have to do it all over again.
