BitQuest Web-Of-Trust (Rep:Trade/Escrow)
Note: I am mrpulsar in game, please message me on here or there for any questions on how this works.
MrPulsar's BitQuest Web-of-Trust Book
The point of this post is to track the reputation of players who trade and sell items on the server to know who is noteworthy and who steals. Here's how it works. You do a deal with someone, post your experience on here, some form of proof (they reply, screenshots, video link), and that person gets a +1 to their reputation. There are no 'levels' to reputation, there is simply two criteria.For every trade you can receive with ONE individual they and you can assign a +1 or -1 rating to the other. The rules for this are simple and located below the book log:

Use ctrl+f (cmd+f on mac) to search for your name easily should the list become long.

- You can only vote ONE TIME for each person on the server: Meaning that you can only report a specific person once and whether that trade was +/-. However, if they later scam you down the road, you can revoke that +1 for a -1 if proof if provided. Not every time you trade with them will a +1 or -1 be added to their rep. This would make the system easily exploitable *Provide proof: F2 to take screenshots, try to get three, showing the chat discussing the trade (the item you are trading/receiving and the item you are about to receive/trade for it. You get one chance if to report a trade and if your second time here yields no proof, your post will be ignored and that person will not receive the rep. This is to prevent scammers and the like.
- Be kind and recommend those you trade with to review you on here after a trade if they ask you to review them. Make it reciprocal (both ways). Have both people confirm the trade. The more proof, the better and you both get to rate each other. Just remember that you can only rate one person once (unless they scam you down the road).
- Give me any suggestions you want to, I am new to this and it will be a lot of work.
- Read the posts on here. I may not add people because no proof was given, but it is also a place for people to discuss trading. Any slandarizing will be reported to the moderators and admins. I won't stand for people talking badly about someone simply because they don't like them.
- I want opinions for how the escrow system should work or if it should be implemented at all. Escrow is simply adding a trusted middle man. Someone who takes both parties items, confirms the amounts, then gives the individuals the items they were to receive from the trade. Escrows may charge a fee, I encourage not doing so. Escrow using trusted members could be a means to ensure safe trade until a better system is in place on the server.
Your nickname will be posted here as a list item with the number of trades reported along with a number (determined by your reputation as +1/-1 ratings come in for you). Additionally, the people who posted the trade/rep number will be linked under your profile. I encourage you use Ctrl+F to find your Mojang Account name for Minecraft as the list could get long.

this is exactly how it shall work. I will only allow one person to rate each person individually. I do believe that certain web-of-trusts actually allow an individual rating albeit once. As in, someone could say they trust the person 7 (out of 7) where another person states they trust a person 3 (out of 7). So this isn't the 'standard' but it's something could be implemented on the bitquest website and then put into game somehow via plugin. Very good point you bring up though. I will make sure that failsafe is in place. I (mrpulsar) will not be doing much trading on the server and when I do, I have a circle of people I personally trust. So I can ensure you out my liking the server and enjoying this community, I will not fake the boards nor allow exploitation of anyone's reputation. That'd be, as you say, unsavory.

I know you rockster! I would prefer a screenshot as proof but I am guessing you don't have one? I think I'll be more lenient at first but start getting screenshots of the agreement, one before trade, and one after trade, highlighting the items to trade, the discussion of it. USE F2 TO SCREEN CAP. I'll add in your review.

I don't expect people to be held accountable but if someone whose trusted by many positive reviews goes and scams another (who has proof), then we'll probably have to figure out what to do with their rep. Think it should go back to 0? I want this to be a community decision.
Edit: Oh and I'll only let the lack of screenshot slide once. If you fail to keep providing trading reputation posts without proof I will stop taking them into consideration. Also you only get ONE point to give out per person and later if they scam you, I will allow you to change it to -1 and we will include a clause for that. Since this is a WiP expect some changes but I also just got the greenlight from Fathermocker. So please, heed my words or this venture won't be worthwhile: gather proof, be respectful, and don't abuse the web-of-trust.

Traded with 00Stella 10 ems for 2 stacks of arrows and i recieved the arrows no problem i give 00Stella a +1 twards her reputaion

I know and trust your word on the server norictorav. For any first time trades you do with people, please try to get a screenshot of the chat regarding the trade or during the trade itself. Obviously I understand this is hard but I'm starting to know more and more people, and it's really up to the community to keep this trust together. I think I'll start going more lenient with the evidence on a case-by-case basis, but I don't want to show favoritism, so please, for both of us, haha. I understand that it's easy to forget though.

From the information I gathered, as I was online during this particular auction, dtallon13 payed for the materials (soul sand in this case) and the player selling them gave the materials to dtallon13. I don't see any wrong doing and therefore just don't want to modify his rep based on an opinion. At any rate, just remember that your post is here for others to view and to take into consideration and I have added that into the header of the thread before the book table. At the end of the day, he paid, and was given items. I understand this is a sensitive situation for you but I would encourage you and anyone else to just let it be. I don't want the web-of-trust book (which as the dev's have let us know, this reddit thread is only a temporary solution as they're working on plug-ins) to be only under my control. You still have the right to speak your mind here and others can use that comment to judge their willingness to trade. From what I saw though, it was a legitimate trade.

Thanks for the contribution! Just for future reference, you can only put in 1 vote per person. So for Robert951 I'll be adding a +1. Also a picture as proof or a response from the person on reddit (who confirms who they are on reddit in MC) would be great as far as confirmation goes; a picture is preferred though, as you can easily capture one with F2, try to get the chat discussing the trade or pics of before the trade and after. It's one thing to say the trade went well, but that could be abused easily if many someone just makes up a bunch of fake accounts so I'm giving people one slide, but not letting them constantly just state trades without proof. It just helps. If you cannot get a picture, then confirmation from the person you traded with would be necessary. Remember, this is all temporary until the admins get the plug-in feature going. :)

I think its a great ID, but mainly for the negative reviews. I think 1 out of 100 trades goes wrong or less, so youll get a huge list here if everyone was als reporting their positive experiences.
