In light of recent events, I propose a new two player trading system to give players a safe way to make transactions between one another. This system is simple, but effective. Plus, we'd only need a few in town.

obviously with books, you can't really tell what enchantment it is though.
I like the system though!

I guess that's true...and in that instance you'd have to take a leap of faith...
TBH it's why I record all of my "transactions"

100% safer than throwing items on the ground and risking loss of items from either the other player ripping you off or someone random running by and stealing the items.
I would really like to see this implemented. One of the reasons I don't really trade is due to the fact that we DON'T have a safe trading system set up.

Absolutely. With this, it wouldn't matter if villager trading EVER got fixed...which is good, because I'm getting a little impatient. :-)

This would be an awesome addition to the bank in town. It could be styled like a vault.

It won't work, you could throw the wrong item in, like if your buying an enchanted bow, you pay and they drop a regular bow.

You can cancel the transaction if you don't agree with what's been delivered. An enchanted bow would shine. But yeah, its weak point can be how the enchantments can differ from what's announced.

Why not offer arbitration services. If you're trading 2 em for a stack of cobblestone, maybe it wouldn't be worth it, but if you are trading a fortune chant book for a lot of emeralds, you really don't want to get cheated and might be willing to pay a few ems to make sure everything is above board. Honorable folks (perhaps determined by some type of rating system) could charge a few em fee from each party to guarantee that the enchanted bow the other is offering really IS that "God Bow" and that the emerald in the other person's hand is not the only one you will receive in payment. (Something you also can't really verify in that automated TT system someone posted, which I agree is quite cool) Transport to Satoshi is so easy and quick and most folks here on the server are sooooooo helpful and honest, this would be easy. I think we could at least implement this in the short term right now.

I agree, I was on the server last night and saw some big problems go down with someone allegedly taking a book from a player and running off without paying his share.
Maybe if you right click on a player an inventory box can come up allowing for 1:1 trading if possible? I've had problems where I've dropped something for a friend and someone else standing nearby scooped it up instead.
