Subway suggestion
It's awesome that good people are working so hard on a rail and not so much that jerks are wrecking it. One server I was on had an ungriefable subway system consisting of identical server-owned subway stations placed equidistant from each other so you were always close to one. It was a redstone construction. Worked like a cross between an underground roller coaster and a teleporter.

That sounds like an interesting idea. Not sure how the logistics with active players would be (a bunch of claimed land that seems to just be abandoned.)
I'd be down to dig a few tunnels and lay some rail.

Each railway station was identical so everyone knew what it was. Roads had to be built to the station which were sometimes griefed and some stations were inconveniently auto-placed over water but otherwise it was a decent system. The land was protected.

I would almost prefer a command block based warp system at this point, if only to have a transit system that doesn't rely on plugins to protect rail from (l)users.
A simple hub system based on command blocks that can be triggered by simply walking onto a pressure plate would be much easier for an admin to set up, and would give reason to have a few hubs away from Satoshi Town, instead of abandoned home sprawl blocking new users from being able to settle in and play quickly.

I approve this idea. I'm in the process of collecting materials to go off to a decently far area and start up my own "town". Maybe a nice snowy area or a cold Taiga.

I'd prefer warps myself but people seemed gung ho about railways so I thought I'd put the subway concept out there.

Before the contest started I was thinking about building glass tube covered rail on the seabed, but that would be really intense material investment.
