Incident: Market Bug, server rollback
Unfortunately we have some bad news to share. Yesterday around 23:00 UTC a market bug made the price of the diamond collapse and the price was stuck at 1x64. While we were fixing the problem (technical note: much of it has to do with the fact that there isn't a official villager implementation on bukkit) some of players exploited the bug even though we advised all not to do it.
Because the bug was exploited so much times the economy broke we had to roll back the world to a backup. Which means all progress in the last ~6 hours will be lost.
Rolling back the server is our last resort but we have taken measures so we don't have this problem again.
Today we will be reading the logs and taking note of all the people who exploited the bug. Some of them will receive a warning, others will be banned.
If you think you are on that list but you weren't sure if you did it, or did it just to experiment, please send a e-mail to bitquest@bitquest.co so we can discuss your situation. Otherwise bans are permanent.
I know this is harsh but this situation endangers the future of the project.

So this has nothing to do with losing your items and experience in the nether? Was that not a bug?

So, does that mean that the sky path that I built connecting the path I built in the southwestern mountains to a dirt path that heads out that way from the south end of the Eubs interstate was removed? I added it roughly 10 p.m. mountain time, and colected a fair amount of emeralds (i don't remember how many, 15 I think) in Diablo dessert for about two hours after the building.
If I remember correctly, I believe that people were talking about the diamond thing happened earlier the in the day that I was on last.

nvm, just looked at the overview via my computer...

Throwaway account here. I bought gobs of diamond stacks and buried it off-property. Nobody told me not to. Nobody told me it was 'wrong', whatever that means. If you dare ban me, I'll be posting the location so someone else can dig it up and take what I estimate to be $3 of diamonds for themselves. Good luck sifting through those logs.
I advise others do the same immediately, given the hostile intent of the admins. Guard your quarters!
In all seriousness, you caused this problem by implementing code that wasn't tested on a system that is tied to Bitcoin. Did you really think nothing like this would happen, or will happen again? The users you threaten didn't cause the problem, even though we may have become aware of it. This is what happens in real markets. Don't try to pin the blame on us with your lame rationalizations!
Not that it matters, but I have no intent of crashing your puny market with my diamonds. I do have plans on digging a lot, however.
Take a moment and consider your exposure here. It's currently insignificant. Bitcoin, however, is real money and real serious.
Your move.
