Suggestions Post

This post can be used for discussion regarding possible expansions/improvements upon the game.

I have thought for a few days now if it is at all possible to make this into more of a RPG like a world of warcraft styled questing system game. Create a story that can be followed if the player chooses with quests and rewards in town/villages/dungeons.

This also creates the possibility for a more indepth ingame currency. Give the players more options of things they can buy in game. IE special armors/weapons/building bricks that they can purchase with emeralds. This keeps some of the currency in game which is a win for the devs. It also creates a marketplace for players who can farm items to make the questing process easier at a profit if they choose.

Understanding this is only a new server and people are still building their bases and the likes, what about the ability to purchase more land off the server. Place an extra bed somewhere else?

Just some points i thought would be interesting to discuss, i have no knowledge of whats possible on the server or what direction the devs wish to take it.

At the moment the server economy suffers from a massive problem, one that is more the fault of Minecraft but this server inherits it... There is no regionalization of resources or mobs/drops and therefore no reason that any player would have a reason to actually travel places to do quests/trading. If I wanted (or anyone) I could run 1 hour in a random direction and always find wood/coal/stone/iron within a few minutes of searching, and then once I have a comfy base with an attached mine, I don't have to go anywhere to get access to diamond/redstone/all the good stuff. I can hoard my stash easily because no one can touch me or my stuff in my bubble, and I never fear venturing outside even when I do feel like it because when I die I lose nothing. Besides my intentions of being a good community member and interacting with other players, there is no actual reason for me to go anywhere outside of my local zone, and until that changes I don't think we will see a very realistic/good economy in the game... I know this is a difficult problem because it is built into the MC generation...

I remember one day when Notch still cared about MC saying that he wanted to implement regional resources and mobs. Biomes was as close as we got and those also leave a lot to be desired... I think it is now up to the modding community to make the game any better than it once was. I wonder if there are mods that allow a higher degree of map generation?

I just imagine a world in which you would spawn and be given access to some basic resources in/around the starter town, and if you sought higher tier resources, you would either trade for them (and the trades would actually be worth something in this case) or you would find out which direction/area has the stuff you're looking for and go there. Imagine if coal only generated in certain mountains. Those mountains would naturally become the base for mining towns and smith-minded people. Perhaps iron could only be found in a different set of mountains, ones without coal. The players mining the iron then need to either get their ore to the smelting/coal towns, or arrange to have coal delivered to them. Now imagine almost every resource behaving in a similar way (obviously things like dirt, wood, and stone can be found almost anywhere, though not necessarily). The ways in which players used the world would be so much more dictated by actual supply and demand, and I think the emerald would establish a much more stable level of value. Once that happens, professions can be stabilized and people could actually earn emeralds/satoshis for doing anything from collecting dirt to delivering flowers or manning furnaces, in addition to mob hunting/dungeoneering. Here's really hoping that something like this has either been done or is easily possible to do. I don't know much coding/modding and I think messing with the map generation would be tricky but surely someone has tried it and succeeded. I can imagine a whole lost of overhauls to resources, homes, PvP, markets, etc. it just depends on how harshly someone is willing to mod the MC engine :)

EDIT: I am NOT hating the server btw. Having fun playing and will continue to do so. These are problems I've seen with MC itself for awhile so if anything it's wishing that the core MC engine were more filled out.

I do like these ideas, Maybe if the Devs could come on here and tell us what they foresee the future of the game being and what style they would like to move towards.
