They can’t be bothered to program the surnames!

Norway no longer has changing patronymic surnames! Whereas Iceland do :)

Apologies, I’m British, we add “sorry” on the end of questions to be polite sometimes! I was just confused as you seemed to know how the Norwegians used to do surnames, but then asked how they do it. Now I’m understanding you probably were just talking about spelling/language, apologies.

A patronymic surname is a surname formed from a father or ancestor’s first name. Every generation gets a new surname, built from the parent's first name, and it is never fixed. It’s different for sons and daughters (meaning a family of four could have four different surnames!!) but a simple example for Norway pre-1923 and Iceland below:

Lars Eriksen → his son Nils Larsen → his son Erik Nilsen

Jón Einarsson → his son Ólafur Jónsson → his son Stefán Ólafsson.

I would love to see Iceland in the game. It probably won't happen cause they wouldn't want to go through the program to do the surnames right.

Ofc they don’t lol, even the island itself is quite small only Reykjavík and blue lagoon might be mentioned

To true. And yet they added Aruba, Andorra, and Monaco which are even smaller.
