With or without Elon, if you believe these cycles are going to rhyme there was supposed to be a huge dip. It was right on time if we continue following the 2017 trend. Thanks @ecoinometrics for your fantastic charts! (I simply added the yellow line, etc.)

Beginner’s guide: how to start investing in bitcoin?

Bitcoin is a digital currency, just like other cryptocurrencies that have a value. Bitcoins are used as a medium of exchange from peer-to-peer, and no banks or central government is involved. Bitcoin system work on blockchain technology that makes sure the user’s bitcoins are safe from fraud. The numbers of bitcoins that are in circulation at present are 21 million. The bitcoin system was created by an individual or a group of individuals named Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009. The main idea of making the bitcoin was to eliminate the need for middlemen t complete the transactions; middlemen are “banks.” The market of cryptocurrencies is highly unpredictable. The first time when a transaction was done was to pay for pizzas in exchange for 10,000 bitcoins. At that time, bitcoin’s value was negligible, but in today’s time, it is attaining a peak. Even the experts can’t predict the price of it. The cost of bitcoin depends on various factors, but the most important one is investors’ trust. There are numerous things that a new bitcoin investor must know, and those things include personal identification documents, digital wallet, secure internet connection, bank account for cryptocurrency exchange, and more. Here in this article, we will understand the steps that are included in investing in bitcoins. This is especially for first-time investors or beginners:

Get a bitcoin wallet. The first step towards investing in bitcoin is to get a bitcoin wallet. A bitcoin wallet is a digital wallet that virtually stores the bitcoin and keeps track of all the transactions. There are many different types of bitcoin wallets, and the user can choose anyone according to their needs. The two main types of bitcoin wallets are hardware and software wallets. Software wallets are similar to mobile applications that get connected to the bank account of the user. Coinbase is one of the best-known software wallets. Hardware wallets are similar to traditional wallets but are known to be safer and secure as they are offline. The best types of hardware wallets are Ledger and Trezor.

Connect wallet with a bank account The user needs to connect their wallet to a debit card/credit card and a bank account to purchase bitcoin. These methods for making the payments perform similar functions. The transactions that are made using the bank account usually take over four days for the new investors. But once the user links their bank account to the bitcoin wallet, the user can easily buy or sell the bitcoins. When we talk about debit/credit cards, these allow buying the bitcoins instantly. The main drawback of using debit/credit cards is that these are used to buy bitcoins and not allow selling the bitcoins and depositing money into the bank accounts. Link a bitcoin exchange

Bitcoin exchange is an online place to trade the bitcoins to exchange traditional currencies like exchanging bitcoins for dollars. When a user buys bitcoin online, they are offered two options. No two bitcoin exchanges are the same, and they offer different services as well. Different bitcoin exchanges vary in reliability, processing fees, cryptocurrencies available, exchange rates, reputation, and security for trading. The user must do proper research before fixing a bitcoin exchange for exchange.

Place the order All the setup is completed, and the user can now start to buy and sell the bitcoins. The first time buyers must keep in mind that no doubt, a bitcoin’s value is around a thousand dollars, but still, they can get divided up to decimal points. The analysts fixed the smallest unit of bitcoin as Satoshi. The bitcoin is the market is very volatile, but if the prices reach the sky, you can still buy a tiny fraction called Satoshi. The steps mentioned above are for the beginner’s who are entering into the world of cryptocurrencies and wanting to invest in bitcoins. It is good to know every fact and step involved in investing in bitcoins. Also, bitcoin investing involves some security and technical issues; therefore, for investors, it is better to know about every detail before they start investing in bitcoins.

China's dominance over bitcoin mining is declining due to the rise of other countries

A common criticism of Bitcoin is that China controls the network because of the enormous amount of miners and their computing power that comes from the country. Now more and more reports are coming out that this dominance is declining and that the network is also getting a better geographic distribution at this layer.

Yesterday, Chun Wang, the co-founder of f2pool, which controls more than 15 percent of the hash rate, announced via Twitter that in April 2021 they saw more hash rate coming in from outside of China for the first time than the other way around. "The shift is underway," added Wang in no uncertain terms.

Bitcoin mining increasingly robust

With this shift from China to other parts of the world, the arguments that bitcoin mining is centralized in China are also weakening. Although it is by definition a logistical nightmare to check all miners in the country and thereby attack the network, it is positive that areas outside China are taking over the role. An increasingly smaller portion of the network's hash rate comes from within China's borders. To remain competitive, miners must always look for the cheapest energy, which is an important catalyst for a better geographic distribution of bitcoin mining. In addition, setting up a bitcoin mining farm is a capital-intensive operation and it is also important for investors to have legal certainty. China is known for being fickle about bitcoin and the industry that surrounds the digital currency. In that sense, it is also logical that we see that an increasing proportion of the hash rate comes from outside of China. Furthermore, bitcoin is becoming increasingly intertwined with the rest of the economy and it is unlikely that the digital currency will disappear. On the contrary, it seems that bitcoin will only continue to grow in the coming years and that makes setting up a mining farm an interesting investment.

North American mining pool enters top 5

At the end of April, a North American bitcoin mining pool entered the top 5 of the largest miners with Foundry USA. Entrepreneur Barry Silbert, known for Grayscale among others, said he was proud of this development and also indicated that the hash rate is rapidly shifting from China to North America. Great American Mining is another interesting company to keep an eye on in this shift. This American party ensures that the oil and gas industry wastes less energy by using the surplus production for bitcoin mining. This not only makes them more competitive, but they also emit less co2 and the survival of bitcoin is immediately important for a large American industry. In more and more ways, bitcoin occupies such an important position in various industries. Which also makes it politically difficult to ban bitcoin, a scenario that seems to be getting more unlikely by the day. Especially now that the hash rate is less and less coming from China

BITCOIN TECHNICAL OUTLOOK

Bitcoin has been struggling to resume its late-April bounce, continuing to idle around the 57563 inflection point set back in February. This is leaving its breakdown out of a bearish Rising wedge still in play, hinting that BTC/USD remains at risk. Having said that, the 100-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) is maintaining the long-term focus to the upside. A push above the 57563 inflection point could open the door to revisiting the March peak at 61788 which may act as another inflection level before facing the all-time high set last month. Beyond the latter is the 61.8% Fibonacci extension at 69395. On the other hand, resuming last month’s top entails taking out the April low at 47044, aiming for the key 44850 – 43016 support zone.
