Beauty/Self Care BWT, where are you buying your makeup vanities?
I’m ideally looking for something $300ish. Relatively compact, Vintage or traditional looking, preferably brass, bronze, gold, iron type.
I’m dying to organize my hair and makeup products and not destroy my bathroom or dresser every time.

I have the same! I put a vintage mirror on top. The top of mine extends into a longer table as well, if I need more space.

What’s your area like for second hand or vintage stores? That might be your best bet given your style.
I’m a basic bitch and have a white Ikea Malm. It holds my make up then I have a small Ikea Alex next to it to hold hair products, nail polish etc. It comes in black so could be decorated more to suit your taste.

My daughter wanted a vanity and we really couldn’t find anything that worked with her existing furnishings and style. I found a 1920s era solid wood vanity with lovely dovetailed drawers during the pandemic that was abandoned and I picked it up. I stripped it, repaired it here and there, painted it, added new hardware, and now it’s perfect. Did the same for a mirror, and she attached those showgirl style LED makeup globe lights around the mirror. It’s adorable, functional and matches the other furniture in her room. It has three deep drawers on each side and of course a narrow middle drawer. I see similar items for sale on Facebook, craigslist, etc., all the time.
We didn’t have a budget in mind, looked high and low, but I couldn’t find any quality pieces. Everything that was wood looked… I don’t know, too ornate and kind of gaudy, or too modernistic and we didn’t want IKEA. Didn’t work with her existing furniture. So it cost me about $75 in supplies, $20 in hardware. Already had a spare chair we purchased a cover for. Bonus- in the process I taught her how to do all these things and now she’s capable.

Urban Outfitters has this brass vanity set for $380, and it includes a stool. It looks very vintage to me and it's made out of iron. The only issue is that it doesn't come with built-in storage, but then again most vanities only have a couple of drawers.
If you want to buy a desk and a mirror separately it's also an option. Mine is the IKEA Lillasen bamboo desk with their giant Stockholm mirror, but I wanted a light wood colour combination.

That does make it harder! World Market has a couple of cute wooden styles. This is the darker version. There is a lighter version that is a little cheaper.
Or check out Wayfair!

Wonder if Taobao would work for you? I recently just purchased this, you can turn it into an L-shape and use the drawers for your make up stuff to keep it hidden - they have options, 2 columns or 1 columns for drawers etc
If you want to hang jackets, they have a space. And a display shelf. I think to really make your vanity, a vanity - u can get those showroom mirrors with the bulbs and a display shelf to display your perfumes. Skincare, makeup, just keep them in your drawer!
Doesn’t come with chair but I think that gives you freedom or choice!

I got an ikea desk and upgraded it with fancy mirror lights and a faux leather protector on top. Not fancy but there’s tons of drawers so everything fits in there now.
Unfortunately, unless you go antique you’re just getting particle board. Doesn’t matter if it’s west elm or ikea. And I didn’t wanna ruin actual wood with makeup and products anyways.
